1925 5 window coupe *Finished*

This one was stareing at me in my collection so i decided to build it and get it out of the way....Its AMT need i say more? :rolleyes:

i decided to leave the hood and side grills off...to give it that old hot rod feel..

even if it's an amt model, who cares, it looks good except for some small things, like the grille (it's screaming for a black-wash!
, panel lines, lights and some wires in the engine should make it a real stunner too .

but still a good job on an average model, I think .

thanks man...i was going to do all of the above but...

1.i have no clue how to black-wash
2.the paint is to thick to make panel lines...and will flat balc really show up on that blue?
3. lights??
4.i would do engine wireing but i have no clue where the would go since there is no distributor.:confused:

Well; to black-wash you don't need that much stuff, actually the best thing to do is to by some acrylic thinner from tamiya. now you take a few drops of thinner and a few of flat black , and you stir it and you put it on the grille, and in between the panel lines.

Wipe the excess paint off, with thinner, or even with water and some sort of stick you use to clean your ears with ... dunno what it's called?
and Voila, you have yourself a nice blackwash.


Also, in case you don't have access to thinner , I heard water could do the trick as well, as it thins your paint. I think you should at least give it a go,j it brings out grilles so nicely and could be a very welcome addition to your models.


oh , and about those lights, I think you put too much clear glue in them, it shows through the lens (if it's at all clear glue)

You should put this glue especially in the lights on with a cocktail stick, and it will look much better.

As for the distributor, I didn't have one also on my alpine, but scratchbuilt one using styrene, following the tutorial I found on this site (http://www.briansmodelcars.com)

It's pretty clear.

That's a 1934 but hey nice job anyway. If you want a challenge try the AMT '32 Phaeton, makes the '34 seem like a piece of cake. I grew up with these models so they're pretty simple for me.

Blackwash can be done with water and acrylics. I use Testors "water wash-up" acrylics. Dip the tip of the brush in the paint, dip it in water and squeeze the paint out. Keep dipping/squeezing until the paint is almost clear. Then with the brush wet just run it across the grille and the paint will flow between the grille bars. Since water obviously doesn't stick very well compared to paint it may take a few applications. Takes practice to determine the "dip/squeeze to color" ratio but it's easy to wipe off if you screw up.
