Tough choice. But the best: 63 SD Catalina. The most influential: '64 GTO. The one I want: '69 GTO convertible.

What about 1969 Ram Air IV GTO?

Obviously the 69 JUDGE...Ram air IV...we are talking muscle cars here, not just old cars.

Seems like I am not the only one that likes the 69 GTO. Ram Air IV of course.

Ok, I left the Judge R/A out, and I'll agree that a '61 Tempest is not a muscle car it just looks better than the '63 which I consider to be one. IMO the rest are, but I could be wrong.

65 GTO with 389 Tri-power and 4 speed

I'd say 67 GTO with a 389 and a 65 tri power setup put into it.
Even though it isnt a muscle car, I'd say my 60's pontiac is one of my favs :iceslolan

Can't argue with that list, pretty mch hit them all on the head. Obviously engine choices will be the only deterimining factor in everyone else's choice.

Gotta go with the '66 GTO. Not only is it the nicest of the GTOs, but one of the nicest muscle cars ever... I guess that's just my oppinion, a biased oppinion considering I own one.

No offense, but I like the 65 better. It's a tiny bit smaller and the grille doesn't protrude in so far. Also it's more of a flat front end rather than semi pointy. Just my opinion.

Well, it's just an oppinion. I like how far the grilles are sunk into the nose, and I look at the design as more rounded rather than pointy. I do love the '65s, along with everyother year, but the '66s just seem more 'muscular' to me. I think the majority of GTO fans would say '65-'67 were the nicest years of the GTO.

I think the '66 is the best looking. (Correct me if I'm wrong-->) I don't like the wrap around the corner tail lights on the '65 and 64-65 are just to boxy for me.

Thanks. I am alone in my liking of the 61- 63 tempest? They're one of the coolest cars IMO, 195.5cid slant four, rope drive, to a rear trans axle all you have to do is put a 389 in it and you have a 40+ year old C5 (basically)

Blue, you are correct. '64 and 5 did have wrap-around rear lights. I almost forget that the 1964 model is a GTO. It carried all the styling of the early '60s Pontiacs and none from the '65-7 Goats. I guess it makes sense.

I will admit that '66 has more of a muscle car look to it. But didn't pontiac go to the 400 in 66 instead of the 389?

No. '66 still had the 389 with the tri-power option, and then in '67 they got rid of the 389 and replaced it with a 400 with an HO option.

Personally for originality i'd have to go with the '67 pontiac GTO with the 400ci 4bbl, with an M21.
But, i'd have to say the ultimate is my '67 modified LeMans hardtop with a all roller 455ci 4bbl till i can engineer the intake i want. and a rock crawler autogear M22

i prefer the look of the 67 and 68 firebird over the 69, my dream car would be a black 68 firebird with a 68 428 and a 4 speed :-D
as for the cars on the list, looks, the judge, and engine sd-421

i think you left out the best of the best in the list 67 firebird conv. the first real firebird would be my personal favorite, first year built, 400, hood scoops, hood tac, 3 speed auto floor shift, and i know for a fact it beat the judge ram air off the line from personal experience, but in the end they r all classic pontiac muscle. 67 birds rule
