Trans flush from cooler line

96 Taurus GL.

Is it possible and fairly straight fwd to flush the trans fluid in
the torque convertor by disconnecting the line to the cooler in the
front.?

Start the engine, collect one quart, shut off engine, put one quart of fresh fluid. repeat till i see clear fluid.

Any risks with this method.??

The cooler is just a pipe, with hoses commectin on both ends, what
end should i disconnect so that the fluid flows out the flexible tube?

yea just make sure you don't run the motor too long when the fluid stops coming out, otherwise you'll kill the tranny pump. I used this same method on a 95 taurus, and it worked great.

There's a procedure for this, right at the top of this page. Wait for the ad to show AMSOIL, and click on it. Look under Products and go to Transmission fluids. There's a link there telling you how. Sounds good to me!

yes it is very straightforward, disconnect a tranny cooler line, and pump it into a bucket. helps to have one person operation the engine, unless you have a remote starter.:tongue:

Will the fluid be pumped out when in "park"

YES!!!! dont try to pump it out in any other gear, yikes wouldn't want to see you crush yourself..:frown:

As long as the engine is running, the torque converter is spinning, and pumping fluid.
