ka24e 2 ka24de?

Real basic question here, will the DOHC be a direct drop in from the SOHC? Besides the ECU, will I have to change around any hoses of any type?

Power steering lines are different, the AC compressor and mounting bracket is different, and the Tach(Signal that runs it) is different.

yea i heard to swap in the manual tranny from an auto in a sohc, you have to get a sohc tranny....

ka24e to ka24de is easy...swap the harness, and ecu... the tranny is the same. yeah power steering lines are different, but easy to fix. and swap the guage cluster too. thats it.

So would I be better off buyin a $2000 240sx then drop in the DOHC or buyin a 93 240sx for $3000 outright? Tryin to save every dollar I can

when you say tranny is the same do you mean like bolt right up to one another or do you mean the mounts are the sme?

dohc and sohc trannys are alike.

In my opinion the SOHC really isnt all that bad, altho it is nice to have that extra cam every once in a while... I've also been lookin into that swap for my 90 and some guy said that he got it done in about a week and a half in his garage with all the parts and everything ready and the only problem he ran into is the ps... did have a problem with the tranny so... im guessing it all fits from what he said.. i would get a lil more info before dropping it tho... lol

Dude,the longer the valve lift the better, that is achieved via the secondary overlapping cam... why use the SOHC if u have an option for a DOHC?

What do u want from the car?
Daily driver, get the cheapest motor.
Hybrid DD and track car, get a newer motor.
Track car, any built motor. (i like DOHC, more efficient )

true true... the only diffrance between the ka24e and the ka24de are the cams tho correct?? ive always liked SOHC... sqeeze more power and be more underestimated because of the single cam...more people know what SOHC and DOHC mean these days... :banghead: :banghead: I could have da a 91 ka24de instead of my 90 kad... I had NO CLUE it mad such a big diffrance with nissan... but personaly for the post... i would think it would be cheaper (in the long run) to buy a cheaper ka24e with really really good body condition no rust... good suspension, electricals and blah blah but a bad motor and swap that motor out with the ka24de... im sure you can find a failry cheap 24de for your new s13 and then you get he best of both worlds... new engine and grat body... if you could take that route at least... i know i seen somewere down near cincinatti there was a 90 kad just like mine for 400 bucks, someone tried to do the v6 skyline conversion on it and realized that they are stupid and should never work on cars again... hahaha... i mean pick that up and a de engine thats not too expensive at all and the car itself looks great it just needs the engine to make it run...
