ahhhh, well the Tacoma Forum here I think is well populated, if your into doing a lot of roading in it then check out the Nissan Xterra forum.
However I think that before the Tacoma Toyota sold the Hilux in the US under another name. Which I think is your Pick Up. (to me its a Ute) :D

Cool.
Iv never had much to do with Hiluxs, but Im quite familar with the old A series toyota engines.
I forget that in America a Ute is a Truck, down here a Truck is something you need a heavy vechile license to drive. :)
Were there any desiel Hiluxs sold in the US? they are very popular here, and every true Kiwi Farmer has a 4x4 Hilux.

I've got an '85 toy that i'd like to beef up. I wouldn't mind some advice on that. I could use some advice on changin' out my timing chain too, that's gonna be a pain.
I sure have noticed alot of toy pickup owners lurkin' around in these forums, i think it'd be cool to pull 'em all together.

to replace the timing chain alone just knock pins out of new and old chain and join new chain to old one and turn motor over until new chain is on teeth of gears...Its and old trick a veteran toyo mechanic taught me..:flash:

hey man i just read your thread and id like to know where the pickup forum is too. I have a 1977 toyota pickup hilux, still runs pretty good too, my dad bought it brand new, but it does need another transmission and some major rust problems have to be taken care of. so if you here anything about a tranny in the double digits let me know man.

A 5 speed mannual goes in one, of course i think it has to fit a 20R engine too, so if you know anything about one why let me know,
Thanks :grinyes:
Oh yeah, do you know if aamco would service one that old or if you could get parts for them still.
