Hello everyone!
I just found this forum, and am glad to see other GP owners out there. My baby is a '92 4 door 3.1L I bought in late 92 with 18,000 miles on it. We have traveled the world, and last Summer I had my first problem. I hit the brakes to avoid plowing into a blind idiot pulling in front of me. Baby stalled, and I started again, drove a mile amd she began to die. I could start and go a bit, but the pedal was real mushy, I coax up in acceleration, but gently only, normal accel would cause hesitation, and stall. New job then, moving twice, I just put her to bed to rest until I could work on her. Ok, thats today. Fresh battery, cleaned up what i could up to the airhorn, checked all vacuum lines, drove for 5 minutes and stalled, wont start. Let sit for half hour or more and hard starting but starts, but the same starved feeling is there. Starved? or over fueled maybe. Ihave pulled the intake horn and cleaning things up a bit more, now see the throttle position sensor, and there is also another one next to it. Not sure what that one is, and or how it should feel ie. easy to move plunger? or is stiff correct? I will replace horn late tonight once sun goes down here. Would love to hear others thoughts on this, anyone ever experiance sudden stop syndrome (SSS) causing this type of problem. Right up to that point the engine ran great, from day one, and yes she do have a billion miles on her, but never burns oil.
Thoughts appreciated!!!!

Recently my '92 has "died" on me, my dad's a mechanic and so is a lot of his friends. They looked over it and came to this conclusion. The map sensor controls the engine lines, it may be dirty. My dad took it off and cleaned it out with carb cleaner, after that it still had some problems. We checked the battery wires and noticed one was loose and then we tightend it, and then it ran near perfect. I have 116,000 miles on it and I don't think it was ever cleaned out.
Hope that helps.

That is your Idle Air Control motor next to the TPS sensor!!
Many things can cause a stall, some of the most common are:
PCM
Memcal
IAC
MAF

 Thank you for the replies here.
I checked and found a loose cable going to the body from the negative post. I had the MAP Sensor tested and it checked good at the auto store. Not fixed. You have me thinking flatrater, so I tore into this baby hard, and started researching all the little gizmos these engines have, and since it has been 15 years since I have worked on cars, man am I learning a lot. You mentioned the MAF sensor, and this is the one I have not found yet on my vehicle. 3.1L MP EFI, and as I am reading in my book, I get confused on which engines the MAF is on.
I am eliminating each sensor at a time by testing, and hoping to find "the" culprit, and still follow up with yet another complete tuneup here, replacing O2, MAP, ehhhh maybe the IAC, and yeah that was the item I was asking about. I have the tools, so need the education here.
THanks again
