Motorex Legit?

HI, I have a question about MOTOREX. I have just heard from an EPA certified ICI, and DOT certified RI that MOTOREX is being investigated for not actually doing all the testing for the skyline, which would make all the skylines in the US illegal, is this true?

Bump. I've heard similiar rumors, but from nobody REALLY trustworthy, so I'll be interested to hear if said allegations are true as well.

motorex has no reason not to do all of the work, i mean this is the way that they make their living. if they mess this up then what can they do. and why do you ask if motorex is doing there jobs or not? are you looking to buy a skyline soon??

If you people, including Razor, cannot comprehend the final sentence then you are looking for drama to bring here, not me. I'm far from a newbie here and I too am tired of seeing crap posted about MotoRex and thats why I posted my saracstic answer. Its not my fault you people cannot comprehend it. Morris is a bit of an asshole but he admits it and has always been honest and to the point with me. I would not hesitate doing business with him.

So, now after this long explanation, do you think you people can piece your pride back together and understand....or, is it going to be more of the same puffing up crap trying to defend yourselves?

Thats the only intelligent thing I have seen you say, and its so because it applies as much to you as it does to anyone else.

Things like sarcasim do not always come across very well in a purly written medium, as you said "People don't understand things online" and sarcasim is probably the lest understood.

Another thing most people don't understand is just how knowledgable about a subject you are based on only 2 posts, you have done nothing to show that you are legimitly concerned with skylines, motorex and all things automotive, from our perspective you could be a kid whos getting bored during computer class, or one of the many lonely people who like to hang around creating attention for themselves online.


So stop getting so agnsty and cockey, chill out a little, and start by either telling us who you are, or sticking to posting simple advice untill you build a positive reputation, I think you will find us a much more likeable bunch, and Im sure we will return the sentiment.

I'm not trying to cause any drama but from personal experance, my experance with MotoRex has been less than pleasent.

I try not to have anything to do with them but sometimes I have no choice. There word is no good with me.

so since you claim to have had a bad "experance" with motorex, would you mind voicing the situation, so we can be more aware of what is REALLY going on, so that the rest of us know, not just the few that have had bad experiences?

please keep in mind that a failure to voice a reason for the "lack of trust" in their word, would have some pretty negative feedback...

we'd all like to know, and the only reason anyone really gets called out when they start topics like this is that they don't have a real reason for making the claim, and it's BS. if yours isn't BS, which, for right now, i'm going to believe isn't, then let us know what happened...

Back in December 10 g's down on my R-33 to start getting it legelized and told them I'd fly out in Febuary to see it. They said I could take care of everything over the phone but I wanted to see what I was getting.

So in Febuary I fly out there and it was not what I expected. It still wasen't legelized, they said they were having trouble with the EPA. It had a dent in the trunk, a burn hole in the driver's seat, the lip kit on the front was messed up perty bad. There was no radio, the engine was dirty as hell haden't been cleaned in 5 years, the GT-R emblem in the grill was gone. There were to gawges in the front lip covered by MotoRex stickers. And what I didn't know at the time was the driver side side skirt was messed up to.

So I pointed out thoes problems and they said the'd take care of it at know charge. So I filled out the paperwork and paid for it. I also bought and had them install a few more things while I was there. A Power FC,an AVC-R,turbo timer and some HKS blow-offs. I had them order a Jun body kit,a HKS GT intercooler and hard pipe kit, a b&M ignition upgrade, and a gauge pod and some greddy gauges. They said no problem but it would take a while on the body kit and the intercooler.

I leave thinking I'm in good hand and that everything is going to be taken care of. Well 2 weeks go buy and It's comin up on may and the car hasen't been moved. And no word on the parts except he intercooler was susposed to be brought over by someone they were having fly into town.

To make a long storie short prommises were made when thing were going to get done and sent out but never happened. Paperwork was not sent, filled, lost or in some cases not done. Parts were never ordered, shipped,and installed. Calls were never placed or returned.

At one point when I called I was put on speaker phone and 1 of the guys I had been dealing with said" I'm getting tired of that guy calling I'm about to ....." then I got taken off of speaker phone. But he wasen't to tired to take my money for the car. The same day that happened I called HKS about the intercooler the guy said sure whe have one in stock. And MotoRex could'nt get off there azz to get me mine???? It had to come over with a personal escort???


I finaly did get my car around late May the 22 and some of the stuff had been taken care of. The dent was gone but there was over spray to take it's place. The burn hole was still there and the radio still had no face plate. They fixed part of the front lip kit where they had there stickers but it was still messed up. They did install the Power FC and AVC-R and turbo timer but put controles for the FC and the AVC-R in the glove box. After I told them where I wanted them mounted.
On top of this I don't get my title and nesscery paperwork and my cover plante on my motor was now gone. I didn't get the paperwork tell almot a month later. And I guss all the other stuff fell by the waste side.

Then last month when I had no choice but to deal with them for some gaskets. He said "Oh yeah buy the way your body kit and intercooler are here you still want them?." And I'm thinking it took you how long?? and no phone call and u treated me like shit and u think everything is OK. I all ready had gotten the intercooler from someone else 4 months ago.

I have talked to them since and eveything seems a little better but looks can be deciving.

I do have pictures and dates if anyone needs more in depth details/proof. I won't give names so don't ask.

I am glad that I did get the car but like I said it was an unpleasent experance as far as I'm concerned it done and over with.

yeah i live in la ive been there and ive seen what kind of work the mechanics do my friend was trying to get a job after graduation from uti the were using an impact drill to put bolts on the tire note using a impact gun is bad cuz every car company has a diffrent torque setting that can lead to tire wear being weird and what not.. the took of the wheels first and when they did they kinda just dropped them and they let the caliper for the break hang by the damn steel braided line ive been to motor ex ive seen the cars ive talk to the mechanics and to me all of them dont seem to know what there doing im sorry u had to go though that i no someone out here with a blue one... but the only differnce was the guy gave him like a 30 g tip so he took good care of his car and its in perfect condition as far as another person i know that has a white one his was also fucked but hes a mechanic and did the work him self...

Ok you may not like their workmanship, and you may have a legit reason(s) for it. Fair enough, but imply in any way that their business isn't legit is "slanderours" and "liable".

Now for those with sarcasum I have tones of it, so if you want to dance with me pal go right ahead. I 100% guarentee you will lose. I have no time nor do I have the energy anymore for stupid people who feel they can use AF and inparticularly the Skyline forums as a place to vent frustrations.

I've spoken to Sean a number of times when he worked at MotoRex. At least to me he has never come across as a jackoff or asshole. You my friend do. to put it very simply - motorex claims to have "legalized" my car by installing the necessary modifications to the car...

they must have missed a few things - even stupid little things that I needed to have for my general state safety inspection...

since motorex must document all of the mods with pictures it appears (at least in my case) motorex used another cars pictures - to send to the nhtsa :nono: - this is done to save money so they dont need to work as much on each car :disappoin

again - call me what you want - but dont think for a minute i wasnt pissed that I had to pay a local inspector to "inspect" my car that cost me 18,000 to get "legalized" a few months earlier...

I dont own Motorex , I just did work there on the Skylines.

Its been about a year and a half since I did any work there...

I ended up getting frustrated with the owners inability to conduct himself in a way that was conductive with business.

Since then I started to help another customer of Motorexs that was having a big problem with them. I have been helping him out since then . Helped him setup RB Motoring .

It is my understanding that Motorex is currently under investigation by the DOT . Some of those reasons why I left in the first place.

I stay in contact with a few people , owners ,etc. Most peoples experiences with Motorex are far from happy.

Currently with RB Motoring , we have worked on Nick Wongs R32 , Hubert Youngs R32 , and Makoto Smarts R34 among others . I give lots of advice , and talk to many of the other owners.

I come off as a prick , and I can be one . I am not always in a "shiny happy mood" . But when it comes to GT-R's dont f*uk with me. Kids on the internet , saying they can legalize GT-R's , giving advice on what parts to use with no substainciating data piss me off.

When I am pissed off ,I don't give a damn who knows about it . If I offend you - good .

If you ask for advice . I will give it too you . I will go out of my way to help you. Ask the amount of people that I help out with free advice. The people whos cars I wrench on . The hours I spend answering questions via , email , phone , and on forums.

he is what he is, and does what he does. if you don't like it, tough.

i can sympathize, b/c i'm the same way, and deal with people the same way he does, and i know what it's like.

we (sean, me, anyone in the aftermarket) aren't here to be your best friend. help you, yes, but hold your hand? no.

i 100% agree with sean's mindset.

And I think thats all there is to say in this thread really.

It also goes to show that you really shouldn't abuse people online, especialy when you dont know them and have never meet them.
They just might show up, and prove to be significantly better people than you, or even better call you out.
