Getting a 2nd Gen Eclipse

Well, I was down to either getting a 2nd gen eclipse, 7th gen celica, 3000gt or Cougar. I finally decided based on looks, money, and personal preference that a 97 or 98 Eclipse GST is the way to go. I think I have found the one im going to get, I just have a few questions. Whats the diff between GST and GSX, do they make carbon fiber hoods that fit on 2nd gen eclipses and can a eclipse GST beat a celica GT?

Heres the one I think imma get, hows it look?

GSX=AWD
GST=FWD

There are LOTS of CF hood styles.

I have no idea what a Celica runs stock :shrug:

2g Eclipse GS-T could for sure beat the Celica GT. But if u want a fast fast car, get the Eclipse GSX.

Hey Crimson wassup,

Just to let u know. The 97-98 gsx is better than the gst, they do make carbon fiber hoods for them, and one on one, turbo versus turbo, the celica has the upper hand, cause if i rememebr right, the celica weighs less. and the eclipse, has a nsaty habit of being over weight, and not cuttin it on high end.

"Not cuttin it on the high end" if its down on power. :wink: Consider that stock 6 bolt motors and heads can go to 8500 rpm with no mods, and you can keep it down a gear if you have the high rpm airflow to support it. I used to romp on cars at the track all day, but the same car might be able to outrun me on the highway. Now, there arent any cars that you typically run into that will keep up with my DSM on the top end. I was beating Vipers when I was running high 12s. But they would kill my mph. The last Viper I ran did a 12.5 to my 12.1 (missd second) and I still had 7 mph on him (117 to his 110). So on the highway, I would stay ahead of him until I ran out of gear, or reached an aerodynamic limit before he did. So blanket statements like DSMs suck on the top end just dont apply. Power is speed.
