putting neons in door console cubby

The cubby at the bottom of the door panel towards the front of the car next to the speaker is where i'm referring to. I want to put a couple 9" neons on the inside of the wall but wiring them could be a problem. The door panel is esentially not connected to the rest of the interior of the car, so when i open the door, how could i have it so no wires are showing? Is it even worth it trying to shove the wires through the wire loom that already has all the wires from the door to the car? Anyone know what i'm talking about?

i know what you are talking about, but i personally don't think it'd be worth it. I'm not sure how or where else you could wire it from. just a guess, but maybe through the door opening to your dash??? dunno, but good luck.

Feed them through the "umbelicle tube" that carries the wires to your power windows/speakers and such that goes between the door and the body. ;)

this could be hella tight if you do it right. when you're just chillin in the parking lot and stuff you'd have it glowin on the ground with your doors open. and you could shut the doors and have the interior all lizzighted up. woowoo! just run the wires through the rubber tubing in the doorjamb, and splice them. take pictures!!!

Yeah, the possibilities are endless. You could wire them into your parking lights, or headlights..something like that. I'm not a fan of neons for the most part, but that's something that sounds worthwhile. Good luck..I also would like to see photo's when it's done.

wiring them in is no problem. I've just now been introduced to the solderless electrical kit. but to get the wires from the cubby to the interior of the door panel is gonna require a drilled hole. Then i'm gonna have to somehow feed the wires through the hole to the interior of the car. I don't think its worth it. But while thinking about that, i thought about putting 1 or 2 small 6" tubes behind the door speaker grill. Just a thought, don't know how practical that is. And that would require going through the, as Matt put it, "umbelicle cord". Also, i found a single 9" tube sitting around that for the life of me i can't figure out where it came from. So know i'm trying to find someplace to put it. Also, i only know of three places to ground wires. The two places where the seat belt is bolted to the panel by the door, and one of the bolts under the center console by the e-brake.

Are you going to have them on the bottom or bolted on the side above it a little bit? If you put it on bottom there will be no more piling receipts / screwdrivers / cell phone etc. in there... Just a thought.

on the wall with some adhesive tape. I don't keep stuff in there anyway, for the most part, my car is clean and neat inside.

Please tell me you're joking. One hot summer day or accidentally kicking them will unstick that tape from the door... Get some neon clamps and screw those into the plastic door thing if you're really going to do this. Might as well go all the way and make it clean like you say, instead of ghetto fab tape holding up your neons.

i've used velcrow (sp?) as well on some other things and with that, you can't even see it. How it's held up isn't my biggest concern until it's actually wired in.

Not true. I have "9 thin line tubes under each side of my dash, passenger side is attached to the bottom of the vent fan housing using double sided 3M tape, and the driver's side I have attached with the same tape on the uderside of the lower dash panel above the pedals. Can't see the tubes unless you look under there. Andways had them there for about a year now and NOTHING has made them fall off, not heat (and here in Cali your interior can get 160+ degrees in the summer like right now) and not even kicks to the dash penel. It all depends on what kind of tape you get. ;)

I had neons on one of my cars, two 15" (I believe they were 15"s...) tubes hidden under the dash. One was above the pedals, the other in the same location, on the passenger side. Looked pretty sweet, but there's NO way I'd tape them. I drilled small holes, and screwed those babies into the dash. Never fell, and never had to worry one bit. Was very clean. Especially if you stick them in a hard to reach place, the last thing you want is them coming loose...
