bumper

like my 88 civic the bumper is black but what is the first thing i put on it so that i can paint it the color of my car? the texture of it is sort of like rubber mixed with plastic!

what the hell kinda bumper is it? is it part of a body kit or what? u're gonna have to be more specific to get some help here.

220 grit sandpaper, 2 cans of white primer, 2-3 cans of paint, and 2 cans of clearcoat. Take your bumper off so you don't get paint on your car. Sand entire painting area then wash with hose, spray 2-3 THIN layers of primer, spray 4-6 THIN layers of paint waiting 15 minutes in between coats to dry, then wait like 30 min and start clear coating 4-5 coats. Let it sit for about an hour, then you should be good.

He's painting that ugly black bumper which is only plastic. I hope he picks the right color though.
