hey all,
just got a 1979 datsun 210 A14 5 speed. got some questions for anybody thats had experience w/ these cars.
i wanna put a smallish stereo in it...400 watts maybe...don't think the alternator will be able to keep up w/ the power requirements though...anybody know the specs for alternators from those cars?
it also has a busted ignition switch...its stuck to on so as it is i have it off and am using a screwdriver to start it...obvious security issues here...can i get any ignition to replace that one and have a key made?
and, just for curiousity's sake...are there any engines out there putting out more than 70 horse that don't take too much effort to swap in for...the car is a RWD. i kinda wanna stick to the 4cyl set up...i'm thinking something around 1.8-2.0 litres. what kind of power have people squeezed out of the A14s?
anybody know any good places for parts? body panels and headlights and things like that

go for gold and swap to a L24 motor. its an inline 6. 135hp stockage. shouldnt be to much trouble to drop in. possibly a custom mount. there pretty small litreage. that will leave you with a ton of options for parts if you wanted to run preformance wise. overall you if you wanted you could squeeze a nice 400hp out of the L24.

incase you didnt know the L24 is a datsun engine.
as fas as the ignition goes you should be able to get that at most locksmiths. i had my local locksmith redo the ignition on my impreza cus i didnt like the idea of using two diffrent keys for the door/ignition(someone fucked up the drivers door lock with some sort of file or something tring to jimmy it)
