I saw the most messed up thing at an SCCA compitition where I live. There were two guys there that had 2003 BMW M3's and they were both running 88sec times. A Type-R went on the track and ran an 83sec run. How is it possible that the M3's got beat so bad? All 3 cars were stock.

driver skill plays a lot in racing. the m3 guys were probably on the track for the first time or some shit.

simple....
the drivers....
the R driver has more track experience than money...

it depends on the type of track too... if you have a track that has a real long straight away in it and less turns then the m3 will most likely win, but if you have a track that has more turns in it and a shorter straightaway to it the type r will put down better times... the m3 will pull away from the teg on those long straightaways while the teg will corner better then the m3 and pull on those s turns and curves...

i agree to an extent, but still the drive will be all its about. i've heard it somewhere (i think its a mod on this board), but basically auto-x is 90% driver, 5% car an 5% balls...
its all on the driver to make his car run to its fullest capabilities.
