hey... i drove 80 miles today to check out a used 1997 240sx. its in great shape, 70000mi, 5sp, red, and very very clean. the only problem was there were 2 small (size of a dime) spots of rust on the roof. it doesn't look too serious...but wat do i know. rust is rust. im not sure if i should get it anymore. am i just over reacting? i plan to keep this car for about 10 years and i do not want the rust to spread and make holes on its roof. if there was rust on any other part of the car i wouldn't mind but it isn't like i could replace the roof rite?

Hmm... dont know what to do about rust besides paint over it... The holes are they deep into the hood? If you plan on changing color I think you can sand that shit off then just repaint it.

what you do is you gotta repaint the whole roof. some shops can just do the roof. some shops require you to paint the whole quarter panel along with it. if there are holes they fill it up with bondo and then paint over it. the rust is really nothing if you can take it to a good body shop. i'mnot sur ehow much a paint job is. but here in queens you can paint the whole car with factory paint for around 1600-2000. i had my whole car repainted last year. and its not with the cheap macco paint. don't ever go to macco. you will regret it.

How much were they selling it for? If its a good deal then buy it and do the paint job. Also, the rust is a good bargaining tool, keep telling the seller that your going to have to spend money to deal with the rust and see if he will sell it for less.
