Starter motor?

When i was starting today and mainly recently, i have been having really bad starts. It lags extra seconds before the car starts on multiple occasions every day.

Does anyone have any idea why this happens? maybe because its just hot out? i dont know.

Also, 3-4 days ago i let this guy drive my car, and when he shifted from 1st to 2nd he fcked up and there was this hella big BUMP. It wasnt grinding gears im sure... i dont know what it was, but it was loud. I hope he didnt break a valve or somthing?

Try your basic stuff first like rotor and cap plugs wires and FUEL Filter. As for the HELLA BIG BUMP uh....... Did it sound like it was coming from the tranny or motor or was it his dumb ass pushing the clutch in under alot of power and the pressure plate/clutch thumping.
