Power Steering Or Not?

Hi,
I realized my D16A6 that i bought never had power steering.
So I took the D15 powersteering mount and get it perfectly mounted onto the D16.
But the crankshaft doesnt have the correct drivebelt layout for power steering.
How do you take the one off of the D15 and the one off of the D16 and switch them?
Also lets say I couldnt do this, is it really that hard to steer without it?
I also heard you gain a small amount of HP without power steering?
Thanks

the only hard part about not having power steering is turning when ur not moving and thats not really that hard!!! i think its best to not have power steering cause when ur going really fast its much easier to lose controll of the car....thats just my opinion.

real cars dont have power steering ;)
but if you really wanted it.. take the crank pulley off both engines and switch... that bolts all but impossible to get off though :(

i like havin my power steering on my lx ... but if my car didnt have it i wouldnt be sweating it ... my old 73 mg didnt have power steering and the only thing that sucked about it was turning the wheel when you arent moving.

Never had power steering in any of my cars, and the only one that was actually hard to turn with was my Delorean. The CRX is so easy to turn, it's almost like it has power steering.

Yeah the only time you will miss power steering is when you are trying to parallel park or do a k turn....then you will build up the arm stregnth a little bit... otherwise maunal gives you the best feel of the road IMO.

mine as powersteerings (unless i'm just a total bonehead). so see if i want to go without can i just take hte belt off and run it that way? also can i do the same for hte A/C? its not working so i don't need hte extra lag on the motor (tho my dad said when they took hte belt off the a/c on their old nissan stanza, the compressor totally froze up and hadda be replaced when they put the belt back on 2 years later.)

just a precaution...
when using a d15 crank pulley on a d16 engine, you lose the harmonic dampener built into the D16 pulleys. since the d16 has a higher stroke, an external dampner is needed to help control extra vibrations. Its been said that a d15 pulley will tear up your main bearings in 10,000 miles...
the same goes for underdrive crank pulleys that dont contain a harmonic dampener.
btw, this was verified by me, i compared a d15 pulley with a d16 pulley, the d16 has a small rubber ring inside of it, the d15 pulley does not.
i would not recommend using the d15 pulley on your d16.

I already switched the pulleys b4 I read this could happen.
Has anyone else switch a D16 pullet with a D15 one and had no problems?
I am seriously just considering leaving power steering now, lol.
Thanks

honestly
crxs are so easy to drive, sorry if it bothers me to see someone waste cash on something so useless. you could do something so much better with the cash

Unless it came standard on your car in the first place - and it's all about convenience. If people have the money to spend, who are you to make value judgements?
