Man, I see that we have a lot of cool Noobs here and that hardly anyone has welcomed them to the family properly, so I created this thread for all the Noobs to sign in and for all of us Old Hands to welcome them to the fold.

If you have recently signed up or are below 50 post then you are a Noob and you should sign up with your Name and Vehicle/Mods so that we can see what you working with.

Holla Noobs

And welcome to all of you  :newbie: :bananasmi

watsup guys i'm kind of a no0b here:
i'm Ed from Boston, i have a Black 99 SE-L 5 speed that is paid for phew!. i hang out at the .org most of the time but this is like my 2nd. home. i love AF because there are no restrictions whatsoever. you can say whatever you want, talk about racing, swear, choose to have an avatar and not get charged for it and most important the server doesn't lock up on you and get no access.. so far anyway.
i'm not bashing maxima.org because there is a great bunch of guys there too. only, that it has its issues like every other entity.

i don't have that many mods on my car yet but i am working on them slowly, the thing is that i have had cars in the past and have sunk thousands in them in mods and stereo and that money will never reflect on the resale value of the car. besides, i bought the extended warranty for the car back in 99 for 7/70K and i still have 3/30k left on it and i don't want to void that. even though my maxima with the vq have been trouble free since the day i rolled it off the dealer lot (knock on wood).

anyway, i have a front strut bar, addco rsb, injen intake, joshua tree CF dash kit, clear front bumper lenses, and red/clear tail lamps. some other interior mods like pedals, MOMO shifter, and a broadway mirror which is very useful. i am planning on getting H&R/GR2 combo for my drop and maybe some light tint.. as far as a Y pipe goes, i'm going to wait till the exhaust needs some work or my extended warranty expires.

thanks for welcoming me and i hope to hang out here for a loooooooooooooong time:sunglasse

What's up, EP, you're right about the .org but it is a fun place to visit, I'm also on there but not as much as here. Those guys over there are very up on the Max and autos in general but this is a less restrictive area than there.

Nice mods on the car, I hope the other Noobs sign in here to. Those 99's as all Maximas are nice. Stay with us and we will be looking forward to more posts from you.

I am a noob because I only bought my max less than a month ago. I paid $2900 for my 95 Maxima SE with 135K miles on it. I was looking at Porsche 944s, but in the end decided to go with the more practicle and definately more reliable (even at 135k) option.

Because im a college student I am doing any service I can on the car my myself, which has turned out well so far. Only yesterday I replaced a fuel injector for $85 in parts and 20 minutes labor after the dealer quoted me $450 for the job. Im excited to feel the VQs 3.0 V6 rather the 2.5 V5 I was running on for quite a while.

As far as mods, I dont have any right now. I put new Yokohama AVS db S2s on it last week, and am astonished by there performance and the virtually silent ride that they give. Haven't heard them squeel yet.

I want to redo the suspension. KYB AGXs/ Progress Springs/ Cattman RSB/ Custom Maxima FSTB. Which would cost me around $700. Not a bad deal. As far as engine, I dont know what I could do with my high milage VQ. Dont want to hurt it.

yo big, i just got rid of my 95 se 5 speed and those cars are just fuckin awesome man. the potential is great. intake and y pipe is the way to go. and since you got the 95 (obd-1) jim wolfe will do performance tuning to your ecu so you've got an advantage over all other 4th generation maxima's, if you were to go that route.
just so you know, i got rid of my car at 166K and it was still running well. a friend of mine worked at the mobil:oil change express and he said he saw maxima's like yours coming in with mileage upwards of 265,000 miles and he said it was still peppy, and the engine didn't have any knocking or ticking noises. if it was taken care of before you and you keep it up that car should last you damn near forever. good luck with it

Also if you plan to do anything to your engine such as boosting, ie., turbo you might want to consider getting a compression test first because of the high mileage/wear & tear on the engine.

Good luck with the ride and welcome to the forum, we'll be checkin for you l8ta.
peace

Thought I'd throw one up on here and make sure all is working...

anyone know what happened to maximaforum.com? Guess it's dead. And the forum on maxima.org... forgetaboutit. Even on T1 here at work, that site DRAGGGGGGS.

My main mods are listed in my signature... nothing too crazy to talk about. Check out my web page for some pics and details on my ride. Anyone else from Chicago? Can't seem to find any Maxima people online from around here.

What's up 98? I'm originally from East Chicago but I live in NC now. I'm about to peep your webpage and see what you working with.

Anyway you're right about the .org I just came from there and the server is just too slow. There are some Maxima folks in Chi but a lot of them either don't have computer, know about the websites if they do have one or just don't like or have time to be on the computer.

Anyway, good to have you, Jay, Kornboy and EP here.

Guess I'm a newbie as well. I've got a 2k4 Max SE, leather, real sunroof, Bose audio, 6 Speed manual. I'm loving it right now, I dont know about you guys but this car is stupid fast for a sedan.. I cant get enough. Only problem I really have is the tourqe steer, but you can get used to that.

Oh and she's a lease so dont ask about mods... :) The only thing I might do is add a real sub to the system, the audio is clean and has great mid bass, but there are some notes you just cant hit without a 12" sub :iceslolan

What's up James? You're about the only one on this board with a 2k4, everyone else here is driving 2k3 or below, too bad you can't mod due to the lease but at least you're riding in style.

You'll find out that a lot of people here aren't that fond of the 2k4 because of the Tooth (front emblem on the grill) that's what we call it and the rear end (some feel it is too fat).

Actually I didn't really care for them too much either at first but as I look at them more and test drove it, it grew on me, I think they look good in black and fine for a red colored car.

If I had to buy one it would be in white.

I only have one question, why didn't you go for the G35 Sedan instead?
Not that it is a hell of a lot better but it is RWD, the Max has more room and it is FWD (all that torque steer) but you can do more with RWD as far as getting more out of it powerwise to the ground.

Silver2k4
07-23-2003, 11:27 PM
I understand how many dont like the tooth. I didnt like it much at first either, and let me tell you what a pain in the as* it is to detail. To anyone who hasnt driven the new max and is judging it by its photo's your really missing out. I would highly suggest test driving it, I didnt like the photo's but once I saw it in person and drove it I knew I had to have it.

I'm a big guy 6'1" 280 lbs, I liked the amount of room in the Max. The G35 was smaller, and although I loved rear-wheel drive I never cared for its styling. The interior wasnt much more upscale either. I guess it came down to personal preference in the end.

BTW its rediculus how fast this thing is with the 6 Speed, I also own a 1971 Buick Skylark convertible with a built 350. It sounds crazy but I dont know which one is faster sometimes...

Anyway its good to meet some new maxima buds.

James

Hey Silver2k4... welcome to the board (look at me welcoming someone, this is like my 2nd post). So you lovin' the ride so far? What was your last car? I'd love to drive a 2004 and check it out... my GF's dad is a Nissan mechanic and he's always raving about em. I hear the drive-by-wire throttle is kinda wierd when you have a manual... I forget where I read that.

I'm not exactly won over by the style of the 04's, someone was comparing them to the Saturn Ion... I didnt really believe it, til I saw an Ion yesterday. Sadly enough, there is a real similarity in their shape.

Some might call my taste boring, but I'm a real fan of simple style. IMO, the 97-99 Maximas are the cleanest and nicest looking. I really disliked the 2000's when they came out, and when they gave em bug eyes and chromed tail lights in 2002... even worse. I will give Nissan big points for going simpler and cleaner with the 04.

Anyhoo... enough rambling.

To all my boi's here, you all are welcome, I'm just glad to have some new opinions and post/thread/comments to the board, every now and then the board goes dry and no one can think of anything to post, so your ideas maybe what we need when times run dry.

James, I applaud your decision to buy the 2k4, it is bigger and I think the interior is better than the G, they are fast and the ride is so much better with the independent suspension as opposed to mine with the beam.

the 97-99 Maximas are the cleanest and nicest looking.<quoted by 98

I agree the 97/99 are nicest looking, I found one here for sale but the guy wants too much for it (10,000) I looked it up on Kelley Bluebook with the mileage he has, plus it was in an accident, it was worth about 6700 but he thinks that he can sell it at that price.

I told him I have a 2k and I look it up on KBB and with it's mileage it is worth a little over 10K but he still wouldn't budge.

To all of you Good luck with your car and all of you enjoy the ride.

I've heard the same thing about the drive by wire having "issues" from some of the automagazines, but they were working with preproduction models. I havent had any problems with it, I just wish the clutch werent so heavy :).

My last car was a 2001 Eclipse GT auto. It sucked, I bought it on a whim and hated it after the third month. It was slow (even though it was a 200hp V6), and it leaked. Glad to be out of it.

I agree with the 97-99's being sweet looking. I didnt like the 2k3's crome tails, a buddy at the office has a 2k3 GLE and I love it from the front and side but the tails kill me. And about the saturn ION comments, I know I see how it can look that way from some angles, but just like any Maxima it will grown on even the most stubborn haters I'm sure. I wasnt wild about the front end when i bought it, but I drove it and couldnt be talked out of buying her....

Take care,
James

Yeah, I still think I paid a LITTLE more than I should have for my 98 with 82k miles on it ($9500), but at the time it was a fair price based on the listed retail price on KBB.com (I think about $10,500). The condition of the car really spoke for itself though, and the family Nissan mechanic approved of it, so I scooped it up. Definately no regrets.

When I was in the process of looking for my car, I set up a custom link for Autotrader.com so it would do a detailed search for exactly what I was looking for with one click. Still have it and decided to click it today. Basically found EXACTLY what I was looking for 7 months ago, but with a few more miles than I'd like. 99 SE, totally loaded, 5-speed, black on black, seemingly good shape (only one front pic) but with 105k miles. Here's the link if anyone's interested:

99 SE For Sale (http://inventory.autotrader.com/inventory/vehicle_details.jsp?position=69&car_id=136747459&color=1&searchType=preowned&dealerId=67719&make=any&model=any&pass=3&toYear=any&fromYear=any&toPrice=999999.0&fromPrice=0.0&searchFilter=any&sort=make)

For about 20 minutes I thought to myself "well, only has 14k more miles than mine, is a year newer, plus has leather, homelink, Bose, digital climate control and factory sunroof... maybe I should trade up."

But then a voice of reason stepped in and now I'm thinking "well, mine has 14k less miles, I know it's in great shape, 99's and 98's are basically identical, I'd have to swap ALL my mods over, I could honestly give a damm about leather (cloth grips better anyways) I like my ASC aftermarket roof better than the factory one (one-touch operation, auto-close feature) Bose don't impress me, and I'd probably end up losing a good amount of cash on the deal when I sell my 98. Screw it."

SO, for anyone in the Chicago area looking for a nice 99 Max with slightly high miles... have at it.

if I were to for some reason get an awesome deal on a 2002-03 SE 6-speed (and it would have to be awesome for me to give up my beautiful 98) then yes... absolutely first thing that would be done is to put 2000-01 SE tail lights on it.

I love the HID and all... but those bug lenses and that big gawdy grille... so ugly. This is IMO, of course. Not to be hatin' on 02-03's. If I could get a 3.5 and a 6-speed in my 98... it would pretty much be the perfect car. Well, I'm sure it COULD be done, but for way less cash I could just turbo the hell out of my 3.0, which sounds like more fun anyways.

Hey, I'm Jon, I'm a high school senior from Pittsburgh and I drive a 1996 Pebble Beige GXE. Not my first choice on color, and I'd rather have a manual, but it only 29k on it now (26k when I got it a month and a half ago). Not a dent or scratch in sight, never been in an accident, and garage kept for most of its life. The only mods I've done so far are clear corners and a Sony CDXM630 head unit. I'm thinking about doing some other stuff soon when I get some more money, I'll probably come back looking for some advice in a day or two. Later all and thanks in advance for all the help I will probably need haha.

Good to have you aboard dawg, I'm over at the orgy too, with the same name of course and it is down still but I do like it over here a little more because of the people here tend to be more down to earth and not as stuck up/uppidity then some over at the org, plus a lot of them think that they are too good to street race, even though I'm certain most do daily and if not they have done so in the past.

I'll be looking forward to seeing more posts from you.

I know I am a noob. Just sold my '94 Honda Accord EX and bought a 95 Maxima GLE w/ 125,000 miles. Too bad it's an automatic but everything is in good condition on it except for the fuel injectors, no suprise. If I could ask, does anyone make performance fuel injectors at a good price, and is it worth it to send my current injectors to RC engineering to have them balanced and blueprinted etc.

My future mods are 17" infinity G35 wheels or possibly some cheaper aftermarket wheels, y-pipe, cold air intake, computer upgrade, possibly a tokico suspension kit, and who knows what else.

Hey man, welcome. Nice trade up from the Honda. Though I'm not too sure about the injectors, I think the est of your plans sound good. I'm going to be getting a y soon myself. Have fun with it man, its a wonderful car. Again, welcome aboard.
Kevin.

:newbie:That would be me. I'm new here but have been a maxima.org member since March of this year. I've had a great experience there and look foward to an equally good time here. Just call me "E". I'm the owner of a 1989 Nissan Maxima Se. Hello to all.

I don't remember if I ever actually introduced myself. I just showed up one day, walked in and went straight for the fridge. BTW we need ice  SkyTorch is in Dallas, home of the 4-1 Cowboys (go tuna!). I'm a spouse to one, father of none. So my ride only rolls 2 deep. 1997 Tan I30 with no mods. I want mods but my wife freaks out about my driving faster than I do now, so I have to live vicariously through others. :sadwavey:

yah, im a:newbie:. I've had my max for about 5 years and have had many a good time. dusting hondas and doing the 140mph that the speedo max's at, I gotta say that this is one hell of a car for the $. But I've learned that you gotta pay to play.

Well, welcome to all the new Noobs, glad to have you aboard and to my man Oxidizer, I don't think this forum is that confusing, it is just more simplistic because everything is in one spot instead of roving all over the forum for this or that like you have to do over at the orgy.

Hello All! I've had my max for about a year now, and I love it! It's a 92 SE Auto, but it still hauls ass. As for mods, I have a FSTB, 18" chrom rims, Limo Tint all the way around, K&N intake, 7" In-dash tv, with an additional 5.6 for the rear, DVD player, 10 disc changer, Pioneer head unit, 2-12" Rockford Fosgates, with a Coustic amp. As for Future mods, I definitely want to get a y-pipe, and exhaust, but I don't know which exhaust to get. I don't want my max to sound like all those rice rockets! Does anyone have any suggestions? I'll post some pics later. Thanks in advance for the suggestions and Thanks for the welcome!

What's Robdog, glad to have you hear man, that sounds like a nice whip you got, hope to see pics one day soon.

I don't blame you for not wanting to sound ricey, no one I know like their Max to resemble anything next to rice, so I'd say if you can find yourself a 2k Muffler then you'd have it going on.
They are nice, have a decent sound and were originally used on the Skyline, everywhere I go I have some ricer in a Honda asking me if they can buy my Muffler or will it fit their car.

Good luck and welcome again bro, I look forward to seeing more of your posts.

Hey thanks EPVQ30 &BK2KMax for the warm welcome. I took some pics of my max to post here but i'm not sure how to put them in this post so here's my webpage http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/444291
so let me know what you think. I'll put up some more of the system once I clean out my trunk (it's a freaking mess right now).

I checked the pics, the car looks good and those rims and screen is off da chain but the pics are a little fuzzy though, I was really feeling those rims though, sweet.
