I've seen some pages where people have put a 3sgte into a 2nd Gen Camry. I have have a 1989 Camry, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some more information about this swap, how involved it was, and the troubles that could be had. I've been able to find little information despite a lot of googling. Thanks!

This swap will greatly increase everything!
It is alot of work though. If you have the money and time, do it.
Your car will be under the knife for a while. A buddy of mine did this swap to a 94 Celica GT, it is now running 12 second 1/4's and waxing unsuspecting Mustangs and Camaros. Im considering this swap on my 95 Camry when I get my Lexus SC300 or Is300.:bigthumb:

Aside from the actual 3S-GTE w/harness, you will need the Gen2 V6 5-speed tranny. It's also recommended that you get the V6 axles as well, for it's been rumored that they are stronger than the 4cyl versions.
The first actual Gen2 3S-GTE that I know of was done by a guy nicknamed Samson. I think he was affiliated with TeamSC3.
Here's a link to a writeup along with some useful links at the bottom.

It's to your benefit to learn as much as you can before handing your car to someone for them to do it. Honestly, with enough time and patience, don't be surprised if you end up doing it yourself. A buddy to help you with that ingredient we call BEER can go a long way....
Good Luck on your project.
P-Ba, there's 2 friends of mine (they are brothers) in Melbourne that's running a Gen3 Camry (like yours) with a turbocharged 3VZ-FE V6. I don't know what engine you have in your car, but I know that he's running 10psi with a stock bottom end. Assuming that you have a V6, you can probably get it done with a modest budget. Good luck to you too!
