:ylsuper:

Just went and bought myself a brand new copy of Men Without Hats - Greatest Hats. :D

Went into MusicWorld, and the guy greets me. I'm thinking, "This guy looks like he doesn't care what people think of him....somebody I'd get along with." Anyways, I go and find a sole copy of the CD, and take it up to the counter (wearing an Atari shirt at that :D). The guy is like "NO WAY! I didn't even know we had this...I've got this album on record, it's like my favorite album!" I was like "Sweet."

Get out to my car and pop it in my CD player and just start blaring it. Pull up at a light (with my windows down) and this 25ish looking guy pulls up beside me, gets this intrigued look on his face, turns his own music off, starts smiling, and gives me the nod :D

Later on, just pulling away from a red light these three jailbait hotties on the sidewalk start waving and cheering, LOL :D The reactions of people to the music are great!

Anyways, this is by far one of the best CD's I've heard in a long time...definitely recommend it to anyone! :ylsuper:

Venice Beach, California :D

That was back before everybody got one then and I didn't want to wear mine anymore, lol. I think Bluenotes was carrying them for a while, that's where most people got them.

I think the 80's are coming back :ylsuper:

I gotta get a jean jacket.

Its inevitable. Those of us who were teenagers then will bring it back just as those from the seventies just did it the last decade. :icon16:

The 80s was the coolest decade. The 90s just sucked like a $2 whore.

I have their Rythm of Youth album, which I've been told is their best one. I've also heard that all their other albums, excepting Pop Goes the World are crappy, but I don't know myself because I've never heard those other albums.

IMO:

1980s > 1950s > 1970s > 1960s > 1990s ...

So far, the '00s aren't fairing too well, either...

Besides, ironically, the Safety Dance is rather dangerous to perform. A missdirected hand movement, and you may have just paralyzed somebody for life.

Is it not what he does in the video for the song? That doesn't look dangerous. Is there a page or something that details the dance?

You Canadians. Always so serious.
And the dance is in the video with the cheesey hand movements.

Men without Hats - "Safety Dance" ?

Next there will be a Tragically Hip revival, Tea Party will be cool again and we can forget Alanis and Nelly Furtado for a while...

Of course I could retrieve my Men @ Work, INXS, Cold Chisel, The Cult, The Cure and Pink Floyd CDs from out of the dusty box under the stairs.

Just as long as we don't go back to Dire Straits, Nik Kershaw, Culture Club and women wandering around town wearing leg warmers... I've been through that once before and I ain't intending to go through that again... and no remind me about wandering around Fremantle listening to girls wanting to have fun wearing stuff that looked like it came out of a op-shop... sheesh....

there's a stage in Tomorrowland in Disneyland where bands play a few sets at night, and they rotate the bands in and out...

This week (and a few other weeks next month) its:

:bigthumb: Kinda dorky, but very cool. I mention it because I went out to see their first set right as I was off work yesterday, and they played Safety Dance.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Blondie are playing in the City of Sails fairly soon and Debbie Harry is 60... admittedly a reasonably hot looking 60 but I can't imagine going along watching a band where the smell of linament may be stronger than the smell of c. sativa or where the lead singer is about old enough to collect her pension...

Saw Highlander a few weeks ago and ended up digging out 'A kind of magic' - never worked out why when there are eighties parties that folk pull out ABBA cd's...

I'm going to have to pass on the Dire Straits - didn't like them much first time around.

Now I'm going to dig up my TOP GUN DVD, find my RayBan Aviators, my leather jacket and curl up in front of the fire and turn the volume up and think about when it was cool to roll up the sleeves to the elbows, when advocat and lemonade was a respectable cocktail, when students drank Rheineck and when my Reebok Pumps were cool. And chuckle quietly when I realise Kate has no idea about what any of this...
