I got a ticket on I-57.
A cop got me going 23 over.
BUT...I have a valid reason...sorta....
It was like 3am
I blew some fuses so my instrument panel was out
I could not see my speed
I was going downhill
Just passed a truck.
I have all paperwork validating that I repaired the problem.
This can work in my state, but Im not too sure of Illinois

I want to take it to court...but the clerks there have such an attitude on the phone.

Im hopeing that
1)the cop wont show
2)the judge or jury (if I pick that one) will dismiss
3)if all else fails I can still take the class (defensive driving)

Anyone got any ideas on what I should do??

Plus...I got a ticket in Marion co...
this cop says I was going 101!!!! which is and can be BS.
I have a court date of the 18th.
Whats gonna happen there?
Do I have the option of the class?

My main goal is to GET THE HELL OUT OF THE POINTS (which may be a Michigan thing).

Any help...advice

greatly appreciated.

Well just be lucky you weren't in Arizona doing 101 they would have hauled you directly to Madison street jail. That is a felony here.

If you can choose which ticket to take the class for take it for the 101.

As for the first one, the cop almost always shows up.
I would plead your case to the judge about the blown fuse, that is probably what the cop told you to do anyway. Just don't forget to take that repair invoice in. That may be your ticket to freedom.

Note to self....

Do NOT Speed in Arizona.

Felony?:eek7:

Wonder what charge street racing holds.

2nd Note to self...

Buy Radar Jammer + Detector + Police Scanner. :iceslolan

well...gotta see what the judge says about the case.

Dude your screwed, they'll get you for driving with faulty equipment. And don't buy a jammer, if your caught with one it wont be good since their illegal.

I think Ill take that faulty equipment charge rather than the speeding. And when that transfers to michigan its just a fine and no points.
Plus I got the invoice for all repairs done.

hey, it works in Michigan...Im hoping it'll be the same in Il.

where i live, its illigal to speed even if you are passing. if they're going the speed limit, why should you have to pass them? thats what the law says anyways :D

just bring the papers saying the fuse was broken, and got fixed, and hope the cop doesn't show up.

damn, arizona has tough laws for speeding... with all those large stretches of highway you would think they would be lenient for speeding. unless you were in the city.

you drive an oldsmobile... just take the judge outside and say " does it look like this thing will go over 100 mph?"

Then the judge will say hell no and dismiss your case.

From the mods Ive done my Cutlass can go well over 100.
Im upgrading to a Northstar in 3 months or I may go for the Aurora 4.0.

Yeah I would aim for the faulty equipment, like you said it's better than speeding. On a side note, the only "mods" that can increase a cars top speed are gearing changes, and after gearing, the only effect on top speed is wind resistance.HP and torque will just decide how fast you get to that top speed. :)

You could ask for the serial number of the radar used to clock you at 101. If he comes back with that then you could ask for the serial number for the tuning forks used to properly adjust the radar.

I saw that on some website somewhere, they sold a book that promised it could get you out of any speeding ticket, and if it didn't, they would pay the ticket for you. I forget the website though, sorry.

If you had been caught Speeding in CHAMPAIGN I could have gotten you off, but since it was the state po-po who pulled you over, I cant. Ive got a friend whos' dad is pretty high up in the champaign police department and can get pretty much any ticket taken off my record(well, almost any ticket). He just recently got my cousin out of paying 500 bucks.

The engine Upgrade was purely for the torque and HP...and for the "swap"
Wasnt aiming for the speed with the swap. Just needed to get a lil more "umph" under my feet.

I'm aiming for the faulty equipment charge.

whttrshpunk ~ I may bring that up. I dont think I was going 101.
