could be a lot of things,
have someone hold the thottle, while you look under the hood...
as they rev it you should be able to determine where the knock is coming from...
No matter what it is, it isn't good
The worse it could be is a bad wristpin, or piston, or connecting rod...
I have actually see this a few times from the S13's there are atleast 3 S13's in junkyards in my area with connecting rods hanging out of the block.
but it is far more likely that you pissed off a rocker arm, or rocker arm pivot in the head, which is easily replaced...

the lower part of the engine??? as in the actual engine block????
Or the upper portion, in the head...
If i were you car, and you put those wheels on me, i would throw a piston too!!!

so take the valve cover off, and see if anything "looks" wrong...
a bent or slightly sideways rocker, etc...
IT should be obvious if one of them is screwed..

pimpin I thought your car had an RB25 in it and i belive the RB25 uses that shim over bucket valvetrain or something like that instead of the rocker arms?
I may just be confused... as usual :bloated:

maybe it's your sense of taste, knocking in the back of your head to try and get you to change those wheels.
jk man.
that's odd if you say it's coming from the top yet everything looks fine...
