i need help

i'm putting an engine into an 89 cutlass supreme. Unfortunately I wasn't the one who pulled it out and i'm a little lost on the engine wiring harness. I have extra plugs that don't seem to plug into anything. Tried a Chilton's but that was no help. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
