Own a B16B too

I agree with all of you on the B16B engine, I own one too. Great example, I have a friend who has a B16A engine with all the bolt-on with Skunk2 intake manifold, 70mm TB, chipped ECU, I have a B16B with all the bolt-ons, I still whoop his ass.

There seem to be many trash talk going on about all the different motors, I believe they are all worthy, its just what you want to start with. I believe there is a reason for the standard Vtec engines and the Type R's, if there was no reason for the difference, Honda would not have created it. The Type R engine are race prepped engines, yes they do cost more, but you guys are just paying the inflated US version prices. I got mine straight from Japan for $3,600, that was over a year ago, when it was sold for about $5500.

There is a difference in the B16A and B16B. The B16B are like said before balanced and blueprinted better than the B16A's. Has a 10.8 compression piston, upgraded cams, head work, valves springs, lsd, balanced and blue printed, same block as the B18C-R (about 10mm taller). B16B stroker kits stroke the motor to 2.0L while the B16A are stroked to 1.8L.

At the end all the Vtec motors are great.

you forget that the b16b is also moly-impregnated. this is a very expensive process which ensures even and rapid cooling of all metal parts that are treated with the molybdenum. thats one reason why it can rev to 9k and stay there for quite a while. VERY few production engines have this treatment.

You also forget that the B16A is just a poor man's Type R. Slap the same pistons in there, upgrade the cams and valve train, port polish the head and manifold...........boom more hp than the B16B. The only difference is you paid for it all at once.

B16B's fuggin rock, I never knew my car could be so damn fun.
