Ok here's the deal. I live in arkansas but i came out to california for the summer to make some money to buy a new car. Now right now i have no car. I am planning on buying a car this week and what i need to know is what am I supposed to do about insureing and registering this car. Do i do it through the mail for Arkansas or for California and change it over when i get back to arkansas. I am leaving to go back there in about 3.5 weeks. Anyone ever have any experience with this? I really need to know what I am supposed to do before i buy this car. Thanks in advance

First of all, register it where your permenant address is. As for insurance, you need to contact your company and jump through thier hoops to find out. Every company is different, but I know that I was told to keep my car registered in Indiana and insured there even though I am living in Michigan for the majority of the year ( for college ). But every company is different, so you need to ask your company what to do.
And most of the insurance companies give you at least 48 hours to tell them that you bought a car, just in case you need to buy that car ASAP.

Yup, all companies are differant as far as insurance goes. As for registering it, talk to the seller - because if you dont live in Cali you dont need to pay the tax there and all that other crapola. You can usually wait upto 30 days to register a vehicle (giving you time to get home) and after that theres some small late fee like $5-15 or something. At least thats how it is here. Besides a car in Cali is a pain in the ass, smog bandits take all the fun away from owning even a REGULAR car... and a modded one is 10x as worse :bloated:
