Regain Performance On Beat Up Engine and Trans

Hi, I have a 1995 Eagle Vision ESi 3.3 L V6 with Auto Transmition. This car was run as a taxi and now has 455 000 KM (apx. 284 000 Miles) on it. Beat up much? Well, most of the parts have been replaced due to break downs. All runs well except for the transmition that was rebuilt 20 000 miles ago, :confused: .
Now my questions are:
1. How would I restore some performance without spending much money? (Don't give me the "REPLACE THE TRANSMITION" deally LOL) :biggrin:
2. How could I (if possible) change the gear ratios on my transmition to get some extra performance out of the car?
3. What do you suggest I do to upkeep the car and regain OR MAINTAIN performance?
