Really. Considering how well the $38,000,000,000,000 spent the last decade on crime prevention, feeding the needy and teaching the young has gone. I'm sure that 0.18% would have made all the difference

How can you be so, uncareing? That $70,000,000,000 that was used to kill people, many of them innocent could have been used to save lives.

That 70,000,000,000 WAS used to save lives....... Time will only tell how many Kurds lives it saved and how many lives in the middle east it saved(such as Israel). Or how many American lives it saved.

Will the Kurdish lives you say it saved offset the number of Kurdish people killed?
Will the American lives lost in this 'war' offset the number of lives saved?
Can you tell the parents of those troops that have died why they will never see their sons and daughters again?
I would consider the money used to save lives if it had been used to research cures for things like AIDS and Cancer, if it had been used in some famine stricken country in Africa or SW Asia. Using the money to facilitate a better flow of oil from the middle East is not exactly saving lives....

If the English government actually spent that much on the UK Army or anything else i would be surprised.
Since its the US and it has one of the biggest militaries in the world i'm not surprised its cost that much for the war.
although whats the annual figure when not engaging in war. Its not like they use older bombs they have to be replaced if not used. Then you still have to pay salaries etc etc. I'd like a better overview of the whole budget thing.
IE
The cost for running the army for 1 year (without a war) and the cost for running the army with a war. Then i might be inclined to comment. So does anyone know?

Can you live with another Sept. 11? Can you live with letting more mass graves be created in Iraq everyday? Can you live with letting these kids live in fear?

Is the best you can do is hide behind Sept 11?
Iraq wasn't about Sept 11, that was Afghanistan, the Iraq fight was about the imaginary WMD's which G.W deamt up, conveniently forgetting that?
Tearing across other countries destroying what little infrastructure they have on the premise that you have "proof of WMD's" is not righting the wrong of Sept 11.
Let me ask you Pick, when one of the Islamic Fundamentalist groups retaliate for tearing apart Afghanistan and Iraq with another Sept 11 style attack, what song will you sing then?
According to you, America is attacking them in retaliation for Sept 11, they in turn will retaliate in which case America will retaliate.....do you see where this is going? Your "an-eye-for-an-eye" mentality does not work on a situation like this, this is not a playground fight.

It means that you are away with the fairies again.nobody can predict the future, arguing against cash figures that maybe some kurds may be spared in the future is fanciful.
The notion that killing Iraqis and sacrificing marines will somehow benefit Israel needs more specific argument as well.
You cannot quatify any of your assertions Pick, it's all opinion.the figure that I have quoted is close enough to accurate to be classed as fact.
Can you please explain, while you are at it,how American lives are going to be saved? The security measures implemented after the WTC attack will have already achieved that. Some would argue that if the current level of defence had been in place before the WTC attacks, when there was intelligence that a terrorist threat existed, the tragedy might have been averted.Unfortunately, until Sept 11th,the U.S. government seemed to be putting most of their 'defence' forces and intelligence gathering initiatives into overseas locations.
