I am experiencing some carbon knock under acceleration and was wondering if anyone has tried the various liquid combustion chamber de-carbonizers with any success. I don't know if GM sells such a product, but I know Ford does, and I'm sure there are many aftermarket products. Any opinions on the most effective products would be helpful.

Not trying to be a smartass or anything, but I'd like to be know how various causes of "knock" or pinging can be classified and how to tell them apart. (In fact, I am puzzling over my '95 Grand Marquis which pings under acceleration over 70 mph using 89 octane fuel. It pings worse using 87 octane, naturally, but I think it's supposed to run on 87.)
