Hi people,
im new here but definatly not new to hondas, since i am a technian for them and i work on them every single day. but anyways on to the question i am about to dish out 2 grand on a b16a1 with tranny and ecu and all the works for my 91 civic hatch dx. I need to know what is a good dealer with a qaulity engine reputation. I would hate to get a engine put it in and the engine has been beat to hell and there will be no way i could give it back. so i need you opions from the people that has bought engine from jdm engine dealers. mainly looking for dealers that compprssion check and maybe even leakdown test them. thanks in advance

If you actually work for Honda then why would you pay so much for that engine? I hope you mean the 1st gen B16A and not the Teg xsi even in that case neither motor should cost you 2k even with shipping.

Just ask the 4th genner's about the ZC. Parts are rare as hell and I' ve heard many complain about them overall. Get the B16 and no they are not rare, they're a dime a dozen

i heard that they are becoming rare. due to the fact that honda has discontinued the b-series motor and the increasing poularity of the b-series swap. oh well, eventually all there will be left are high miles b-series motor. of course you could rebuild it. anywayz just my 2 cents on the engine.

I'm sure some company will mass produce the motors or longblocks if it really becomes that much of a demand.

I bought my motor from streetimports and I wasn't pleased at all with them. There's no way an engine with no more than 30,000 miles on it has the problems I'm having. I've replaced everything in my engine pretty much, and I still can't figure out why it idles all wierd. Damn honda dealer won't even test my sensors to see which one is bad. Anyway just my 2 cents mabey I got a bad motor from them or something but after replacing everything like the clutch, water pump, starter, and hopefully I'll figure out my idle then It'll be alright.
