I was wondering if somebody out there could explain to me exactly how you shift into reverse in an STi. I know that there is a ring or something that has to be pulled, but i'm not sure how it works, so if you could supply pics, that would be great. I've ordered an STi, and it hasn't come in yet, so I'm curious about this.

Its just a mechanical reverse lockout like the older Chrysler and Saab vehicles had. The "ring" is located near the handle of the shifter , you just pull it up a bit with a couple of spare fingers , and slide the shifter into reverse.

yes the reverse ring is just bleow the shift head. if you palm your shifter like most you should be able to use your index and middle fingers to grab it. if you grip it from the side like i do then you would just lift up from your ring finger.
