idk....whatever u like. go to best buy or curcuit city and listen to some of their demo speakers. if u like them, buy them. there's not really any particular brand that fits cavaliers the best.

I am also looking to buy aftermarket speakers but only the rear ones.
One thing is frustrating me tho, How do you get to the freaking rear speakers?!?! I've looked at http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalChevyCavalier2RDeckSpk.htm but it's not even the same model car!:1zhelp:

the speakers in the rear r 6"x9"s. u get to them through the trunk. pop the trunk and look in and up, u'll see em there.

As far as I know you have to remove the rear deck lid to get the speakers out. Not too difficult.

Sorry for stealing your thread NYTECRASH .
Does anyone know of a website where it shows how to take off the deck lid on a '97?
I can't seem to figure it out.

screws under it, look through the trunk. u might be able to take the speakers out w/out taking off the rear deck cover. but i'm not sure b/c i've never done it.

go to msn.com and type in "cavalier rear speaker removal" in the search box. There is a site that comes up i forget what its called and it shows pictures and all.

just go to carstereohelp.com and on the left side in blue should Car stereo removal. click on it and in the middle of the page there will be a drop down arrow that says choose make. find chevrolet and hit go. Then find Chevrolet Cavalier and click on link you are looking for. It only goes up to 2000 but my 2001 was exactly the same. Hope this helps if you haven't got it yet

just spend more time exploring your trunk, you'll save more time if you really examine the trunk than looking for it on google or some other search engine.

But if it takes you more than 5 minutes and you still haven't found it, than I guess you should look on google, but its not hard to find, you just have to look closely

Well, you didn't really tell us much about your car, such as what year. To try and help most 1994 and older cavs have a spring loaded clip that holds in the 6x9s in the read deck which is accessable from the trunk. If it is 1995 or newer they are a bit more difficult to remove. It usually involves droping the rear seat and removing some trim pannels then some screws from the rear deck to remove the speakers which are also 6x9s. crutchfield.com is a huge help with any kind of stereo upgrades for do-it yourselfers.
