Steering seems Stiff

The problem i am having with my 1986 BMW 735i is that the power steering seems slightly stiff. Occasionally, it gets really heavy but works again. Can you please help me with my problem. Also, my signal lights are intermittent. Sometimes they work, sometimes i get no signal.
Can you please help, this is my first BMW.

When was the last time the steeering fluid was changed?

I just bought the vehicle so i really don't know how long ago. If i was to guess it probably hasn't been done in the last few years

Chang the fluid (Dexron-MerconIII) change the filter, bleed the system and change the p/s belt.

about the signals, check all the light bulbs front and rear, if the sockets aren't corroded then change the relay.
