Yamaha R-1

Here is another R-1 I am building. This one is for a friend of mine. At first I painted and decaled the ferrings, and gave it to him to finish. After about a year it still is not done. It just so happened I needed to borrow his turn signals for a show they just recently had at one of our local malls. So, I am gonna finish it for him, since he has no time and patience to finish it. Sorry, this build will have silver wheels. I just bought some Alclad II chrome, so I may try that route. :wink:

I used automotive paints for this. The color is the civic si blue.

A small update. I decided to detail the rotors a bit, by drilling out the holes in them. Makes it look alot better. More realistic.

But you should paint them at first because the paint will pluged those tiny holes and you'll have to do it again (already tried)... but hey... here's a chance to prouve me wrong again !!

It has been awhile since I updated this thread. Well I am almost done. Here are some progress shots. Here is my fisrt attempt at using the Alclad chrome. It could have came out alright.

Next is the frame almost done.

Here is the completed nose.

Now here it is almost done. All that needs to be done is a few detail painting, and the signals/mirrors.

I couldn't wait. Here is a picture of them together. :)

Two R1´s !!! That´s something. How´s the kit to build? I have the R1 Tiara Racing kit in my closet and I will begin with that bike as soon as I had done my AFV 1/35 E 100 German Heavy Tank.

Thanks everyone. Twins...... :) not for long. One of them is actually for a friend of mine. At first, I painted all the blue parts for him. After over a year later, it was still in the box, untouched. So I figure I finish it for him (can't let my paint job go to waste). :D As far as the ease of the build....it wasn't too bad. I opted to cheat and not paint most of the engine, since you can't see most of it with the ferrings on anyway. I wouldn't mind building another one, but the red/white scheme instead. :)
