Me and my friend got into an argument the other day after I asked him if the Toyota Supra was called 3000GT. I thought it was since I read about it in a web page that i was surfing through, I cant remember the url. I believed it since they claimed that the new toyota concept, 4000GT was the new toyota supra. So I ask, is the toyota supra called 3000GT in japan? I know about the Mitsubishi 3000GT so don't tell me anything about that. I also know the TRD 3000GT so don't bother. Thanx to all repliers!!!:)

Mitsubishi makes....or at least MADE........a 2-door sports car called the 3000GT, like the Supra. It also has a 3.0 inline-six cylinder engine available in regular or turbo, also like the supra. I believe the new sports car you are talking about made by toyota, called the 4000GT, has no relation at all to the Mitsubishi 3000GT and it is purely coincidental. I hope I was of some help.

As far as i know the only thing the Supra has been called is Supra. You are right Toyota did produce a TRD2000GT and 3000GT but their is no relation to the Supra.(other then they are fast as hell) Unfortunently they didnt relese the GT's here in the states. Toyota has a tendency of doing that to us. Hope that anwered your question.

Toyota made a car called a "TRD 3000" and yes, it is a supra. It's also what was in the Fast and the Furious. A TRD 3000 is a supra that has been hadned over to TRD - Toyota Racing Development - Toyota's tuning company. Basically take a supra, then rip out every single bit of it to the smallest detail and replace it with the same thing only full GT racing quality. If i'm not mistaken the TRD 2000 was TRD's version of an MR2. And neither have anything to do with Mitsubishi's 3000GT.

The Capy is correct! The reason they called it the 3000GT is because there is no 300Gt in Japan and they could! The Mitsubishi 3000GT in Japan is called the GTO! ;)
