ok earlier today i was taking my girlfriend to a job interview there was a slow dude infornt of me and i passed him in seccond gear and at 40 mph when suddenly my engine died, i thought it was a fluke so i dropped my clutch to try and kickstart it again after kickstarting it it sputtered for a couple secconds and died again, once more i tried w/ the same result. so i pulled my car off the road to take a look at it, when i cranked it at stop it made a wierd sound like a plunger i though my timing bealt had snapped, but the valves still move. it made a wierd sound when i tried to crank it kinda like "p'wonk" it's in the shop right now but just wondering if i could get some help b'cause the mechanic is sick right now. plus i only have $110 and i need to know if i can afford to fix what might be wrong. please help.

Do you know how to take off the distributor cap? if so, check to see if the rotor is loose. this has happened to me a couple times, what happens is the screw that hold the rotor on comes loose and lets the rotor fall free.

well i had thought my timing bealt slipped a tooth but that sounds a whole lot more likely, seing as the distributor is at most 100k miles old and it was from a junked car who knows thanx i'll ask the shop to take a look at that. unfortunately i had a choice of towing it to my house and not being able to fix the prob myself or towing it to a shop and having it garunteed.

Thats why its a good idea to keep a small tool kit in your car.

i do but thougth it was timing bealt related, so it's at the shop. i'm still trying to learn about automechanics so i try when i can.

Tow it to the nerest cliff and give it a push - it'll accelerate nicely then.

Seriously - your mechanic needs a good kick in the fucking head for all the crap you've gone through with that engine "conversion" :(

well i would agree but he told me to go back early last week and see what was going on w/ the lack of power and check the rest of the systems that were from the original car and i didn't go for lack of money, but now i'm really f***ed, next to no money and no car, oh well my paycheck came in hopefully it'll be enough for rent and car repair.
