what oil r y guys using for a stock dx? im changing my oil and im having a mental block for what to use like 10 w 30 or somehing?

I'm using 10w-40 in my LX, although it's really supposed to use 5w-30.

I use Castrol GTX 5w-30 in my dx.

What kind of oil should i use for my CRX SI?i was old to use 10w40.

use 5w-30 or 10w-30, but if you already got 10w-40 bought you can use that too, it wont hurt anything. Im pretty sure homda recommends 5w-30.

i use mobil1 5w30 in my rex dx,
throw a little no smoke in to deal with my burning problem and it runs nice with it, but to be honest with you, i think just keeping the oil changed regularly is a lot more important than what kind it is.

Actually, a lot of the newer engines designed run a lot smoother on 5-30 than anything else. If you have a premium 5w-30 oil, dump that in there, but I'm not too sure if our 4th gens really fall under the category of "newer cars", but thats okay. I use premium 5 30 every time in my 91 lx, and it runs like a dream.

I think if the engine is in really good condition, the lighter (5w-30) will work better...slightly better power and fuel economy because of less resistance. However, the heavier 10w-40 or 10w-30 will burn slower because it can't get past worn rings and seals.

I got a whole bunch of Penzoil Synthetic 5w-50 that I use now.

Its "normal" for a honda to burn/eat 1qt per 3,000 miles

It depends on where you live...5W30 has a wider range of temperatures. As in below zero to like 120F.
10W30 has a higher viscosity so its better for higher temperatures. But it kinda suckors at zero.

how well do 4th gens respond to synthetic? Jus wondering.

well, just in general, older cars should stay away from synthetic.

Synthetic is great if you start using it right away on a new car, but if your car is old and burns any oil (leaks in piston rings, seals) itll flow right through and will end up being a waste of money.

Newer engines will benefit more from synthetic than an older engine.

If the engine leaks bad or burns oil severely then i wouldn't bother with synthetic.

There is "high-mileage" oil that actually works.
