Motor/trans swap

I would like to know if a 2.8L (V6) Multi-Port Fuel Injection motor out of a 1987 Cutlass (front wheel drive) can be bolted onto a rear wheel drive tansmission. I have measured this motor and it will fit into my 1978 Spitfire. However, I need it to be a rear whell drive.
