Rapid climb of water temp

Hi there, after I switched from a .83 A/R exhaust housing to a .61 A/R exhaust housing on a GT30 turbo with a -14 core. Whenever I accelerate from standing or rolling @ 100km to top speed ~250ish my water temp will go up from 80C to 88C.

Car is putting out about 230rwkW. Engine is a RB-25DET. Standard cooling system. Rest like fueling is upgraded, e.g 550cc injectors. Running PowerFC.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal / to be expected and if I maybe doing any harm to my engine (because of the water temp)? What is the max constant water temp you would suggest on an engine (when I am cruizing at 120~130km temp sits on 83C)?

Since you installed the new AR section your probably spooloing a hell of alot faster yes?? This will cause the engine temp to rise faster the before. I had my thermostat go bad 2 weeks ago. I also changed the water pump because I noticed shaft was worn and on the way out. Now I no longer run a thermostat. Course it doesn't get cold enough over here to worry to much. My car doesn't go past mid range on the heat scale. I noticed a hell of alot of build up inside my water jackets when I pulled off the pump and thermostat. So I pressure flushed twice and cleaned out all the crap. I noticed an immediate difference in water temp. For you I'd keep in the stat. But inspect the pump and flush the hell out of the block and radiator.

I hope you realise you should NEVER completely remove a thermostat, the water circulates through the block too fast and you can have all sorts of probs ranging from cavitation through to water not ciculating through the rear of the cylinder head properly.

Yea it spools much faster and earlier than before. Any reason I should get a upgraded water pump? Or should I just get a lower temp thermostat? (This option being the cheapest) Or a larger radiator.

Actually NO you won't have problems witht the R32 GTS-t. The water will still go throught the entire engine just as if the thermostat were still installed.

The thermostat will just slow down the water enough to allow the cooling process to take affect better inside the radiator.

My car works fine. I make alot of high speed runs all the time. The temp stays good. If I wasn't cooling the rear cylinders I would have detonation. Which I don't.

Zaph I would get a new thermostat with a lower rating. Then flush the block like I said earlier.
