740 Turbo boost control

I currently drive a 1992 Volvo 740 Turbo. In a matter of months (2 to be exact), i'll be out of the Volvo and into a 1998 Eclipse GSX.
For the GSX, I have a complete plan. In the mean time, I've been tempted to tinker with the volvo. I currently have no mods; the car's been more of a learning/poke around car than anything else. But at this point, the GReddy PRofec B Spec II is looking like a great controller for my upcoming GSX.
As of today, the car's running the stock 7.7psi. I've been told that the manifold can withstand 16psi, but obviously with that kind of boost, the fuel system wouldn't be able to keep up. I'm not considering that kind of boost; that's ridiculous.
What I am considering is buying the PRofec now and bumping the boost to maybe 10psi in high boost mode, and 8 in low boost. It would be something I could pull from the Volvo and use in my GSX, and would also give me a few extra horsepower in the mean time.
What sort of risks am I looking at here? I've never run into a turbo car that can't support higher boost safely... however this could be because I'm used to Supras and Eclipses. So am I going to toast my engine before its time?

Talk with the group on Turbobricks (www.turbobricks.com) there forum is excellent for exactly what you are requesting. You can run 13-14psi with the stock system, after that detonation is a problem.
