Nothing major to watch for.
Changes for 2004 are a couple new colors and that's about it. 2005 brings the major changes when t e Xterra moves to a new frame and is completely redesigned and engineered.

No problems with the 03 really, though some take issue with a change in the way the A/C behaves. If you select any defrost mode, the compressor kicks in (nothing new) but it now does not shut off when you select a non-defrost setting until you actually shut down the engine. Big whoop if you ask me.
FYI, unless you're in Canada, you can't get a supercharged 5-speed.

Manual transmissions don't sell in the U.S. anymore because we're a country full of lazy asses, so the manufacturers are basically saying "only 10 % of you want the manual transmissions so screw you!" We can't even get the regular SE with the manual; only the XE. The funny thing in that is that for Nissan the SE designation has always been for the sporty models. XE was base, LE was luxery, and SE is sport. So, they took away the only thing that was even remotely sporty about the Xterra. They should relable it as an LE model...ugh! :(
I most likely won't buy another one unless Nissan brings back the manual transmission. We'll see what 2005 brings us besides a 5 speed auto "not so" magic.

why does everyone want an se so bad. it doesn't come with anything that spectacular (except the OPTION of paying extra for the supercharger). anything else the se has can be added to an xe (with manual) for cheaper aftermarket, and most likely better.
so unless you really want the supercharger, it's better of getting an xe with that much desired 5-speed and get all the other bells and whistles later.

you have a point, but the way i see it is that I or my dad i should say, since he is the one buying it, most likely wont have the time nor will he put the effort into getting an aftermarket supercharger and whatever else comes extra on the SE, therefore he spends the extra cash and gets everything from the dealer and saves himself time
To each his own.
