if you get one or more, get ones that don't have adjustability to them... that just adds slop to them and renders them usless

a strut bar is a strut bar, as long as its not flimsy. ideally, the best strut bar would be a solid piece of tube steel or thick aluminum bolted or welded directly to the strut tower.

Yup...them or Sprint bars..I got a neuspeed because it is solid.. Sprint's are supposed to be cheaper versions of Neuspeeds, but I found a Neuspeed at groupbuycenter.com that was the same price as Sprint. :)
The adjustable ones are pretty useless IMO.

First off, a strut bar is indeed 'just a piece of metal.' There's nothing high-tech, no incredibly close tolerances or difficult measurements to make these things difficult to build.
The big reason you are buying one is to make your car's body flex less. You want the body to be more rigid. Aluminum is more rigid than steel. A machinist will tell you about the properties of steel. One of those properties is flex. Steel ALWAYS flexes under stress. Any stress at all! If a fly lands on a steel beam, it flexes, although it flexes only a microscopic amount. And it snaps right back to its old shape (mostly).
Aluminum, on the other hand, doesn't flex; it bends. It will not return to its former shape when the stress is removed. Aluminum will not flex under stress, but if the stress gets over a certain point, it bends, permanently.
Aluminum is lighter and more rigid than steel. That's why most strut bars are made out of aluminum. Also, aluminum oxidizes (rusts) differently than steel. Aluminum actually oxidizes MUCH faster than steel. It just oxidizes so quickly and completely that the outer layer of oxidation seals off the inner layer, preserving it completely. When you handle old aluminum tent poles, you get black stuff on your hands. That's the oxidation. This oxidation doesn't compromise the strength of the aluminum, and that's another reason it's better for this purpose than steel. When steel rusts, it is weakened.
So, aluminum weighs less, is more rigid, and isn't weakened by oxidation, making it an excellent material for strut bars and wheels.

PS-We could have a separate thread on how critical reducing rolling weight is, but I've bored you enough already...

So is it ok if the actual bar is made from aluminum but the part that bolts on to the struts or whatever is made from steel?

Yep.
$420.00 for a neuspeed rear sway bar?????? which make/model car & from where? Thats $100.00 more that most places sell them for . . . . .
There is a reason why some stuff cost more than others. Neuspeed designed the sway bar, where other companies just COPY. Anybody can copy parts . . .
Most people dont buy performance parts because of the name, they pay extra from the R&D & the function.

I have skunk2 front rear strut bars, only $250 for both, not bad, plus it says Skunk2, and everyone knows and loves Skunk2, correct? It's soo shiny and perty too, and it's very stong, I was able to use it too pry up my friends F-350 Ext and it didnt flex at all.
.....ok, maybe that never happend, but its still strong. :bigthumb:

They are pretty shitty in general from what I have heard. Their parts are for looks, not function.
