Nearly all the Kiwi members here are active members!

I know there's not many AF'ers from Canada, not many of my friends are into the internet, or into there cars, or any of that stuff.

Are you sure thats members and not total posts, I find it hard to believe theres almost a million members fromt eh US and almost 80 thousand from NZ :D:D

Now that makes sense. After a second look, it does seem like total posts, and the percent beside is that countries percentage of posts from the total.

How the hell does AF know what country ur from if your visiting. I can log out right now and just view the forums, and its not going to ask me for my country?

They must find out from the browser,cause im a tech guy and I know there is no way in hell that they could track ip's to determine what country ur from.

Aye? What are you on about? You can tell what country someone is in from their IP address, unless they're spoofing. What do you mean when you say "track IP's"? The computer has to give and IP address so the website knows where to send the info back to, and IP addesses are assigned to countries according to ISO standards. So unless the computer from which they are posting is in a different country to the poster, then you can tell where they are from. What kind of "tech guy" are you?? :)

I didnt mean it that way.I meant this in much more simpler terms. I meant that if AF is getting the countries from ppl, its probably not by IP. Also, alot [and I mean ALOT] of ppl spoof there IP's

I know all about the ISO standards for IP's im just saying that I DOUBT that vbulletin software is set up to get the country that way. [correct me if im wrong, cause I know nothing about vbulletin]

Ahhh, sweet you're making a lot more sence now. Tho I wouldn't be so surprised if vBulletin used the IP address to find out what country peple are from, since that way they can also account for people who don't log on. Also that's (IP addresses) the way a lot of website gather geographical stats on people browsing their sites. Anyways, I've got not idea how it's actually done, so I'll just stop speculating. :)
