Real Astra Street Car

well i have seen loads of "street" astras that are just astras without the decals. i am having a go at turning mine into something you could actualy expect to see out there.

so far i have ditched the side exit exhausts(never be road legal), smoothed off the horrible opel grill, re molded the front fender, smoothed the rear tailgate, added the vents from an sas cwest hood.

sprayed it all with ford paris blue which i love to bits and might spray my real motorbike in!

oh yeah, it took ages to get that hood looking right, 2000 grit paper was used to get the surface just right

btw the wheels are just temporaryly placed for the photo

and another photo, this is gonna be a slow progress kit i think

also i think my amt fast n furious supra might be donating its seats and nos tanks so i can have two seats not just the one! or i will just put the nos tanks there instead, whadda ya think

i am going to be relocating the exhausts to the rear of the car, in the diffuser ports, 2x twin can in each, unless one 5" exhaust in each would be better

Nice. I too was getting tired of people calling their Astra a "street" version only because it had no decals.

looks great! :bigthumb: but why do you say that side exit exhaust will never be legal? Ford lightnings have side exit exhaust for exampel other cars also.

Not a favourite of the Astra, but is certainly a different aproach, and I like it.

that looks real nice. it will deffinately look good once your finished. i was going to say the same about the legality of the exhaust then noticed you were from europe and figured your laws don't allow it.

Hummmmmmmm Not sure yet

i am going to be using some decals that Ales kindly sent on this one, just keeping them subtle tho.
there is a bit more detailing to do on the exterior tho. so its not completely finished yet.
still working out how i am going to tackle the interior, keep thinking about going completely custon on the inside, rebuild the whole thing as a custom interior like when pioneer show cars etc.

all i can say is go get one, they are a great kit, just screaming for a transkit! but beware the doors they are very brittle and need care, but over all i wanna see some turned into mental, non race kits!

Are you sure it's illegal in Europe? Afterall, the new Mercedes McLaren SLR has side exhausts, and I don't think Mercedes or McLaren would have put them there if they wern't legal in their key markets.

im not sure now, i just thought it has something to do with blowing fumes directly into the people om the pavement or something, i could be proved wrong. i think they look nice but every one else has em so i got rid of mine

do you gys think the wheels look ok, i think the long spokes suit it realy well, gonna paint the discs and calipers tonight if i can. give the wheels somewhere to sit! lol.

what colour for the calipers? red? blue? gold? purple, too many to decide so please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in love witj your big low wide mouth.

It gives the astra a nice overal new look.
For the callipers, ehhm, black

black could be good i think, i have nicked two bottles of my girlfriends nail polish, its this rimmel colour changing stuff, goes from purple to gold to blue to mauve, bery funky.
was gonna air brush it on the focus but jimbob is sending me some real flip paint for that!
could do calipers in that stuff maybe? dont know how good it would look tho

well i have fitted the intercooler, gives the wide mouth a bit more purpose i think.
