Would a remote starter be safe to use on my camaro with a manual trans.? Would I have to by any other extra parts for it?

I wouldn't put it on my M6 SS. The only reason for this is because if you start it up automatically, and it's in gear, it's gonna take off on you. Saw pictures of a guy that did it with his SS, put the nose through a wall at a dyno shop trying to show off his new toy on his car.

I actually looked into that. Their is a company that makes a remote starter for manual's. Its sold at select window tint and alarm places. The name escapes me but the price doesnt. The dealer said it would cost upwards of 5-600$ because its not just a starter its a whole alarm kit and its a bitch to program. He said you would have to go through like 4 steps to turn your car off and arm the alarm. Its made to sense when the car has been left in gear and will disable the remote starter. So there you have it. Its basically not a must have in my book but nice to have. And also your neighborhood mechanic could do it but when you car bunny hops over a parking divider in you grocery store parking lot, dont play dumb and dont be suprised if your ins wont cover you.And also look into warrranty violations. With somethings like that you would void a manufactures warranty and not know it.

I have been in custom 12v electronics , the biggest issue with the manual remote starters is of coarse it possibly can jump if left in gear, although if you know how to do a little fabricating you can make the mounts for the laser eyes much more stout therefore not allowing them to moove when and if you hit bumps. Many company's make remote starters for manuals with "safty's" I personally would check out DEI electronics they are by far the most friendly of the group to install, dont forget you may have to be creative on your mounts. if you have any questions you can E-mail me.

Hello There,

I have a 96 Z28 (A/T). Two years ago, I ran into a company that makes alarms w/ remote starter and all the stuff that comes w/ it (Remote Paging, Trunk release, etc...). The manual says that it's easily fit on M/T cars. I paid 150 US$ for it. Add to that 50$ labor and 15$ key override for the PASS-II bypass system.

As I said, have it since 2001. Still working great. (Not doing any ad here).

Check it out: Omnitronic (Taiwan if I remember) on Google would give you some info if interested.

Regards.
