I'm planning on possibly buying a 97-01 Teg LS...I want to turbo the car also. If this plan comes together how difficult is the turbo install for this engine? Also (and this is a real stupid question) but what are the differences between the GSR and the LS engines?

I know the GSR is V-tec and has 170 HP and the LS is only 140 HP non V-tec...but after that I'm clueless.

the ls has lower ompression then the gsr so it would be better suited for a turbo..
in any honda motor i wouldn't boost more then 8psi tho cause of weak internals and the lack of fuel managment for the stock honda motor..

I recently installed a turbo on my gsr....it was the first time i did it and it really isn't that bad, just make sure you got a partner to help you....the hardest thing for me was fitting the turbo in, its a t3/to4e and i was tring to keep my ac in......so i had to do some shaving of the engine block...however, it you buy a turbo kit, which i didn't you should be able to put it in no problems........

A turbo installation is a complicated endeavor for any engine. It isn't something I wouldn't do if you're not mechanically inclined and know what you're doing. The LS engine has a lower compression and would be better for turbo charging than the GSR engine.

Go to this sight. These guys have done it all, at least once. And pretty funny also. http://www.homemadeturbo.com/

This is your personal opinion, but defnietly too conservative. This scares people out of boosting their D-series motors. Like I've said in other threads, you CAN boost higher than 8psi. Crap, most turbo kits come with an FMU and are rated to 9psi. I run mine up to 11psi on the street and 10psi on the track. Before I got my fuel mods, I ran 10psi with just my 15G kit, FMIC, BOV, and exhaust. I've had it for 2 years now with no "BOOM".

Point is: if you can run 12-14psi on a stock D-series 1.6L motor with a 9.6:1 CR, you can probably run more on a LS block with fuel mods and tuning.
