Ricers, and why i hate them.

I just wanted to blow off some steam. Luckily i havent seen many ricers around here. (Havent been to honda forum yet :tongue: ) But anyways, why does ever friggen 16-18 year old have a Honda Civic, or Nissan Sentra, or a Toyota Carolla? Im a fan of STOCK Sentras.. but i've seen some mad ugly POS's before. Particulary Honda Civics. Big wings = mad bling bling. Big stickers = horsepower. I just got done reading this thread on a Honda NSX thread. Im a fan of the NSX. But when an NSX owner comes up with some cheesy excuse to why he got beat by a Corvette, then knocks on the Corvette, that pisses me off. How do i define a ricer? RICER: Noun; RIS-EER : A car with obnoxious mods. Huge exhuast, more stickers then you can count, and an ass ugly body kit. I know their are some domestics ricers (Caviliers) in particular. Dont hate the car. Hate the driver. :loser: But still.. point being, why would you be so stupid to put a wing on before a power adder. And i dont mean no friggen muffler either. would you consider a car that drives around with a body kit and hood, the color it came in, rice?? There is a 4dr divic here in Topeka, that is the burgundy color, and its been criving around now for over 5 months now, with a gray blackwidow hood, and gray bumper and greay rear bumper. it also has a huge silver spoiler/wing on the back. you would think after 5 months, you could afford the money to get it all painted.

before 99 though, in 99, the mustangs switched over to a independent rear suspension, when they switched body styles.

I couldnt think of a compact car by toyota except for the corolla. I just remember the celica.. so... switch the corolla for celica.

Either way- I get sick of people saying- "Oh yeah man- this is rice becuz it is frum Japan" While most entry model cars from Japan are reasonably crap (Well they are getting better- cars like the Honda Jazz, Civic 5dr and Mazda6 will tell you that)- thier sports cars are easily among the best in the world- but at least you are acknowledging that.

Personally I will never be a ricer (ie. have the attitude problem) but I was going to turn the interior of the Jetta into a show car standard interior- because I thought it'd look good- of course the accident has halted that

This is what is good about cars....everybody has there own ideas. What is rice to some people is not to others. I have learnt to take each car for what it is and not if its a import/rice/V8 etc

OK here we go another domestic driver that hates on us importers. See first of it may have a loud exhaust but you gotta give respect when its due. I have plenty of respect for domestics would even like to have one someday in my life. But when it comes down to it you say about getting a car for under 20k that can run a 13 in the 1.4 that dont mean shit. I acn invest 10g's into a car that I only paid 3 g's for and run at least 12's. Therefore saveing a couple g's and still be faster. I hate when peopel can say that they paid a certain amount for their cars and it runs this when if you want to invest that much if you were smart you woudl buy a cheaper car and build it yoruself to be even faster then the car that you paid for and didnt get it as fast as you could get an IMPORT

I think half the argument is that the people buy the cars and instead of doing work on what makes the car go faster, they spend money on stuff to make it look faster.
I feel the same, and a drive an import, I don't like cars that have 40lbs of fibreglass bolted on to look fast, yet couldn't beat a granny pushing a shopping cart off the line. Am I a hater? Yes, I hate people that are posers.
My brother-in-law wanted to buy a Civic and spend $3000 on a body kit so it would look faster, when I explained to him how much faster it could be for a lot less money, just some engine mods, he changed his tune to "gonna build a sleeper" rather {genuine story - no BS}.

Either way, hating imports entirely is different to the scenario here, I didn't get the impression we had an import hater here, just a tuner/poser hater.

I agree totally i dont think you should do the apperance mods beside like lowering and maybe some rims untill you can back it up with true hp and speed. yea I do hate those little apc stcker fags too but im just amkign a point dont always judge the book by its cover you know?

Depending on the lowering and rim/tyre switch though, that can also be considered a performance mod.....

Dont look like you can go if you cant is the moral. Sleepers are exactly what you say you take a car trick the hell out of the motor tweak it to extremebes but dont touch the body hell let the rust spots there.

I like sleepers; for example, 1988 Lincoln Mark VII. Looks like an old granny car, but in reality, it has a 5.0 Mustang engine, that with a few bolt on could run 11's.

Some of my favorite cars are imports (IE Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Skyline, Supra, RX-7 and other hi-line imports.)

And just for the record, Camaro's are technically imports. Assembled in Canada. :rolleyes:

what irk's me are the people that don't respect just becasue i don't have the newest/baddest most modified car. Just because it's not a 93+ RX-7 putting 450+ to the wheels doesn't mean it sucks, and that its not an RX-7. The worst part is when people with similar interests don't give me the time of day. I even had one guy with a 94 supra TT yell to me "that POS doesn't even deserve to be called an RX-7" WTF is with that?

Ive been called a ricer before by some f-body fools.. even though i have no bodykit on my car and its completely stock. Then they go burn their tires away. Yeah, so what if my car is slow? IMO it's certainly prettier than most cars and it has potential, THAT's why i got it.

I don't understand why people have to hate other's cars. I see some stuff that i think looks silly, but im not gonna make a big deal about it. And i dont hate honda's just because of the image.

I'm cool with anyone that's cool with me, no matter what make model or year of their car, unmodofied or not. There are cool people out there. I sorta met 4 such people on the masspike. 2 mustangs, a talon TSI, and one faaaasst fucking accord. And when they passed me, i tried to keep up, and you know what they did? They slowed down so that i could stay with the pack! Ultimate :bigthumb: to awesome people like that.

Built a Mark 7 for one of my "senior" customers.Looks bone stock.Under the hood-392 aluminum headed crate motor running DFI and a 6 lb. Procharger.Ran 11.02 @ 126.33 last weekend.
