What are your fears?

Not as in failing in life. Real fears as in spiders and such.

I have a very bad fear of heights. Not all the time though, it depends on the situation. For example, the fear hits me bad when I am free to move. If I am restrained like in a seat or something, it doesn't hit me. Therefore, I seldom go to rooftops. If I do go, I stay very far away from the edge. However, I can go on roller coasters, planes, etc. It only hits me when I know that I can fall or something like that. I got this fear back when I was a child and my parents took me to the World Trade Center. I was at the top floor and I went to the window and looked down. If you ever went there, you know that the windows go from the floor to the ceiling. Well, my little hands held on to a railing by where I was. No lie, I froze. When my father said it was time to go, I never heard him. I didn't even feel him tugging at me. He spanked me because he thought I was ignoring him, but that didn't even phase me. Finally, a guard came with some sort of crow bar and pried my hands from the railing. Then I snapped out of it and started to cry. To this day, I still freeze when the fear kicks in. And If I'm holding something, good luck trying to pry it from my hands:D, cause I won't let go.:D

Honestly, I USED to have a fear of being in the dark alot. I'd have to cover my head with sheets to go go sleep at times, but this was when i was a little kid, but nowadays, fear, I have none, I am not afraid of heights, spiders, water. I am bascially fear free, on my end, but well, the only fear I have is that sometime later down the road, is that some guy is going to do something to my sisters when they are of dating age, so, I take great percaution in looking over my sisters, because I fear they could be abducted or something. To this day, I can't get over this little fear, I freeze up when it hits.

I really dislike heights...

And being unable to move my hands, like when being in a confined space (like tube or something)... :(

Fear of intimacy. that's all I can think of.

I am clastraphobic (sp?)

I panic in closed-in spaces where I cannot move very much. As long as I can move my arms and legs, its ok but if I cant, I get real panicy real fast. I even get that way at a house party, where its just crammed with ppl. Now I dont go to any of that shit anymore.

I am also afraid of spiders, but not to that big of a degree. I spaz a bit if there around, but I only freak-out if they are on me or if they surprise me.

I have one more, but its kinda personal (and retarded :bloated: so I will keep it to myself for now.)

Now that I think about it, even thinking about being in a real tight closed in space gets me shaky.

I think the ONLY thing I've feared, as far as a type of phobia is concerned, is hospitals. I kinda freeze up (like what DVS described) when I'm in one. I think I associate hospitals with dead bodies. I'm not afraid of dying, but dead bodies (and I've seen a couple) give me chills!!

Is it just people bodies, or even animal bodies, like on the side of the road?

I dont like spiders. I do not run in fear of them, rather I smash them whenever they show their ugly head. Heights dont bother me, falling isn't to bad. But as the old saying goes, its the sudden stop at the end that'll get ya.

I am afraid of most anything that has more than 4 legs or less than 2 (bugs n snakes :p)

My biggest fears thugh are of fire and drowning. WHen I was little if I saw a movie or scene on tv with a fire scene I would get horrible nightmares about it. Then when I was 9 our house caught on fire...and I freaked out. My fear of drowning came on a few years ago when I went to the beach on a church trip. I decided to be brave and try surfing...I got sucked under by a wave and it seemed like an eternity before I came back up to the surface. Now I won't go in any body of water (besides a swimming pool) above my knees.

My 2 worst fears are spiders and heights.

When i was a kid i fell of the shed at home and every since that day i have hated heights.
I'm a bit like DVS..If i'm in a plane or strapped into something i'm OK, but as soon as i'm walking on a roof etc i break out in a sweat.

As for spiders......i dont really know why. All my family is scared of them and it must have rubbed off on me

I fear the unknown. I am not afraid of bugs, heights, water, snakes, dying, guns et cetera.

My biggest fears are sharks, spiders (those big fat hairy ones!!) and drowning. I can't watch people when they are swimming under water for great lengths of time holding their breath. I go nuts!!! :(

I think I have no fears except for things that don't exist ie. Monsters

I'm horrified of big spiders, and JUNEBUGS!!! I had a junebug stuck in my hair once when I was a kid, ever since, whenever I see or hear one, I scream and run for the nearest door.

My other main fear is lava. Ever since I watched the movie Volcano, and the guy jumped out of the train into the puddle of lava and melted, I've been horrified of lava. Good thing I've never actually seen the stuff.

I panic when I can't move my hands for some reason too.

However, I love heights, and I love tight spaces, especially really cramped car cabins (usually small sports cars), like a S1 Jaguar E-Type coupe.

I fear marriage :( Well, not relly marriage, but divorce. Call me sappy but its true.

I also used to have a fear of straight jackets, or having my arms tied so that i could move them. My freinds helped me out by tieing me in a straght jacket for a day. I was literally throwing off 5 military- sized guys offa me when they tried to put it on (i let them, i warned them that i would freak out to) but one of them hit me in the side of the head hard enough to put me into a daze, then tehy got it on. I learned through the rest of the day to just relax.

Nah, I can deal with road kill! I've wiped out waaay too many squirrels, muskrats, raccoons, etc.... to be concerned with that much. I think it's just the bodies that get me.

Steel - I have to agree with you on the marriage/divorce thing. I'm scared s**tless that if I'm married, the person I'm with is gonna get pissed over some silly stuff and decide that she wants half of what little I already have!

I used to be terrified of tornados, but I eventually researched the hell out of them and dispelled the fear I did have. The fear has actually transformed into a fascination. Still, you won't catch me in Tornado Alley anytime soon. ;)

Swimming too far out into the ocean does get me a bit nervous, not because of what may or may not be lurking below, but because of the strong currents. I suppose this is a logical fear as back home, we have very popular swimming holes where multiple people die each year because they get sucked into underwater caves by strong and swift currents. If there are warning signs, pay attention to them! Grr...My hometown is being sued for the death of one girl who went in with her bike, got in trouble, was rescued once, but then went back in after her bike, and drowned as a consequence.

But, I do have one fear that I can't shake. I am deathly afraid of....the Headless Horseman. :( Okay, you can stop laughing. Yes, I did say the Headless Horseman. I'm not going to explain, but let's just say that I'm glad Halloween is over. ;)

hmmm, you do know that the headless horseman really don't exist. I mean, they aren't like the tooth fairy or anything. they're fake!

Hrm, I dont really know what I fear. For awhile I had a fear of drowning because when I was 6, my friend let me almost drown in the lake, but I got over that fear and you can barely keep me outta the lake in the summertime. Spiders freak me out, but I just squish the bastards when I see them. Guess I'm not really afraid of anything? :) (Cept ugly Assteks :D)

I have never understood the fear of clowns that so many people have. No, I haven't seen the movie "It", but I know many people who won't touch a clown with a 10' pole.

Hmm...I won't laugh. ;) Maybe you could enlighten me on this one...

I'm not scared of clowns, but here's the deal: I have a friend who is petrified of anything clown-like, but there is one clown movie that was sooooo dumb she laughed! It was called "Killjoy"

Anyway, I am scared of heights sometimes. Like others, I have to be strapped in or I get tense.
I hate watching skin get pierced... not as in ear piercing, but getting an injection, or on those ER-type shows when someone got impaled.
I am claustrophobic. I once even had a spaz-attack driving b/c the highway had high walls on both sides and I thought they were closing in on me!! And I had my little cousins in the van so I had to stay calm and not make them realize anything was wrong...
I am scared of guns. Yes, I did vote that guns should still be legal, but I'm scared of the things. I just get antsy when I'm around them. It's like I don't trust anyone else to keep their guns unloaded properly.
I am scared of escalators. No reason I can think of. I just hate that stupid thing! And one local shopping mall has an escalator that has shut down for no reason 3 different times I was on it! Elevators are okay, but it's the escalator horror stories of shoelaces getting caught that terrify me!

And to think that I'm allowed out in society! j/k *lol* I'm not paralyzed by those fears, but it definately makes my skin crawl just a bit.

My only fear is I dont seem to be afraid of anything.

I crave heights, and can sit in the SkyTower for hours on end just looking at the city spread out below.
I used to climb up the mast of my dad yaucht to fix something and delibritly spend longer than was needed just so I could enjoy the height.
I love the dark, I dont mind being in cramped spaces, I dont mind being in wide open spaces.
I love spiders! they are just damn cute!
People dont scare me, im to arrogant.
Iv swum in over 300ft of water, its no big deal.
I have no fear of going to fast, only my rationality holds me back.
etc etc

Fears are good things, they allow you to set limits on your behaviour that will prevent you getting in trouble should your rational mind fail.
Having no fear makes me wonder what would happen if I lost my rational mind.
So I fear going mad and not having any limits.

Its either that or im an adrinilan junky! :D

lol some of guys got some funny ones.... no disrespect :)

the only fear/phobia that i have is spiders.... i hate them, if they're bigger than the size of a quarter ($0.25) then my legs feel a little week. I have no clue why, cause i know they can't hurt me and they're so much smaller than me. It's just that they're so freakin ugly, and i can't stand the thought of it crawling all over me

i don't mind closed spaces.... then you're closer to all the ladies :)
I don't mind hights, at the CN Tower in Toronto (the largest free standing object in the world) you can go up and they have this clear floor so it looks like you're standing on air way above the city, it's cool
and water... fugetaboutit..
