Suspension Problems

Hi I have a 1996 SSEI and am getting a clunking sound from the front suspension, mostly when backing up. I took it in and my mechanic said everything was tight and if it gets worse bring it back. I noticed my touring ride and performance ride console buttons were both on and the manual says when that happens you have a service problem and take it to a dealer. I was wondering if this is an air-ride related problem and has anyone had this problem before or have any comments. I was also wondering if anyone knows what the Air inflator switch in the trunk is for?? Please advise before I take it back to the garage. Thanks! Patioo.

Yeah, the manual says that you need to take it in but I have a 95 and both my lights have been lit up for the past 25k miles. Each setting works fine. The dealership told me the computer probably needs to be reset and as long as the settings worked, not to worry about it. From what I understand the suspension system is hydrolic and not air based and it looks that way when I got up underneath it while having the catalytic converter replaced. As far as the air inflator ... there should be a 'nipple' there next to the buttons that looks like a tire valve. If you have the accessories that came with the car there will be a long cloth braided hose with a guage on one end. You can reach all four tires with it when it is screwed into the trunk and it is useful for bike tires, etc.
