Car Badging

What do you guys think of fake badging? Personally I think its gay. Ive been seeing more and more V6 mustangs with cobra or gt emblems. Same goes for integras with type R badges and civics with VTEC badges. Im soon to be upgrading to dual exhaust, so Im putting a V6 emblem on the back of my car, so Im not mistaken for a V8. I want people to know what they got beat by...and also avoid giving them the impression they beat a v8 if when I lose.
Furthermore, in a previous thread there was a lot of discussion regarding sleepers. This is also influencing my decision for when I finally get a Vortech SQ (super quiet) supercharger on my car...the V6 badge will only add to the sleeper affect.

I don't give 2 shits about emblems ppl put on their car... I see teg's with those typeR emblems all the time, but its so obvious they are not anything near it because they still got their POS hubcaps... What do I do? I point and laugh   :loser:

That sillyness runs rampent with faux BMW M3 and M5 drivers. My friend and I were driving in Detroit the other day and pulled up next to a silver "M5", driven by a very snazzy looking yuppie guy with shades on. When the light went green, my friend and I were soon extremely excited because our stock Sentra Se-R somehow managed to smoke an M5. :loser: That dumbass deserved to be put in his place. :slap:

I really dont give a rats ass what people do. If they want to put a worm on the side of their V6 Mustang let them do wtf they want. If its gay, then its gay... just remember by that logic that the Shelby Cobra/GTs clones are gay also, not to mention, fake Z28 / SS, Cudas, GTOs, Torinos, T/A Challengers, and all the other rebadged clone/replicas are gay and stupid.
Its their money, its their choice... if they think it looks cool to them so be it. Not everyone has $30k+ to buy a car, so why not go with the next logical step... Buy a cheaper version of it and... Clone it! *gasp*!! Yes its that simple... and yes it saves you LOTS of money. Some of you people just think too much about it.

no it's gay. even worse is when they take badging off a totally unrelated car. some punk drives around here in a green daewoo with skyline GTR badging. every time i see him i burn my tires right past his hunk o shit and flip him the bird.

If I want to add a stupid "GTR" emblem or a damn little f-in Snake on the side of my Mustang... You know what? Its my right, Ill do it cause im the one paying for the damn car and want to make it look good for MYSELF only, not you or anyone else for that matter which is what these people are doing (unless its the ones that act like their car is the real thing  ) . If you call it a "hunk o shit" go call classic replica cars a piece of shit also and tell them to "f'k off" with their fake, rebaged clones... Itll be about the same damn thing you people are doing right now.

it's disrespectful to the awesomeness that is the GTR and the little punk needs to know this, man. think of the people who designed and developed these cars and think of what they'd say if they saw the badges of the cars that they dedicated their life work to on some hunk of crap daewoo. it's blatant disrespect. no matter how "pretty" it makes the car.
you're entitled to your opinion and if you can be big enough to let stuff like that go, more power to you. but it just irks me.

Say you have a V8 Mustang. You go to single exhaust and and slap on a V6 badge. You then bully people who think they are going to bully a V6 Mustang, but instead, they end up getting owned by a V8 Mustang. You know, its a sleeper thing.

To sucker people in to races who would normally wouldn't run. Back to the mustang example: I won't instigate with the 99+ V8's but I sure will instigate the V6's. Imagine the look on my face when I get my arse handed to me and I'm thinking I ran a V6 but I actually ran a debadged V8. I'd be laaughing my ass off if I were the guy in the Mustang.
This would really be key if you were the type to race for $$$.

Yeah, thats why I want a V6 badge. I'd rather not be mistaken for a Gt when I slap on my SC. The suprise effect IS priceless.

Did i miss something, dont you already have a V6?
Also what i dont get is its not right to badge your car to look like its a better model but debadging your car to look like its the weakest is acceptable.

It's akin to pool sharks who go out of their way to look bad, at least until you put your money where your mouth is...
It's an attempt to fool the uninitiated. Most cars have other visual and aural clues as to which model they really are. The badges are just the easiest ones to recognize.
If I had a black Civic Si instead of the trademark blue, I'd take all the badges off in a heartbeat.

well, lets say i'm gonna race a v6 stang with v8 badges. and say i don't really know the tell-tale sigs of a gt stang. if i win i'm gonna go around tellin' my buddies about the race and saying i beat a gt stang when i really didn't. then one day i catch a real gt stang with one of those same buddies and get smoked. they're gonna think i'm a staight up liar. it's not fair, it's not like the person would be lying intentionally and they'd look like a chump.
if you're proud of your car and don't wanna hide it then why is it any better to say you have something that you really don't. be happy with what you got, don't bullshit people into thinking you have something you don't

Hmm, first part of what you said... Sh!t happens... you thought you can beat one, turns out you didnt. Oh well :dunno:
Second part... if youre proud of your car, you also wouldnt debadge it or make it try to look like its a weaker base model. Like take me for instance... I bought a GT wanting to get a Cobra... the Cobras are $10+k more than my GT. With the money I save for buying a Cobra, I can have something that looks like one for $1000-$2000. Who cares if its not a Cobra, sure as hell wont run like one anyways, as long as im happy with it... besides, its not like im going to be spouting off to people saying my cars a Cobra.

how is that an example of debadging to look base? but anyway no i don't think that's cool either. here's an example. two of my friends have ex civics with B18 swaps, one's JDM. one's purple(yes purple) with normal ex badging and one's got an SiR sticker, the SiR's jdm. we all race around once in a while and their cars are damn near as fast as mine if not faster with the right driver and i can't help but thnk to myself that anyone wathcing us race is gonna think the new maxima's are slow as shit, runnin with seemingly base civics with simple modifications it's fucked up.

I just don't get the whole badging thing. Who are they trying to impress? The owner? It can't be because they know exactly what car they have. And little $5 badges don't dramatically improve the look of your car the way rims, exhaust, lower kits do. So it can't be the owner. Other random people on the road? Most people I know couldn't tell the difference between a Taurus and an Accord, let alone distinguish a stock civic from an Si or a GT Mustang from an SVT. Unless I specifically pointed out a badge, and they still wouldn't understand the significance of it anyways. So it can't be random folk. The car enthusiests? Anyone who knows a cars well can spot fake M3's, Mustang GTs, and others from a distance. Its more than some little badge, there are different wheels, body designs, and a hundred other cues to distinguish the performance models from the base models. So I just don't get it. You can wear a "Hi, my name is Antonio Banderas" nametag all day but it still won't change anything. Why not just embrace your car for what it is, stop playing boyish games, and spend your money on some real enhancements for your car. Be proud of your car, don't pose it for something it's not.

For one that is a badge many respect on the proper car. Just like a ferrari emblem or the Corvette badge.
I had a Skyline GTS-t (2 litre turbo) which I rebadged to a GTS (2 litre na) because of the constant barrage of numbnuts who felt compelled to want to line up a GTS-t. Imagine the shock and horror they recieved when they thought there were lining up a na GTS.
I've considered on rebading my GTR as a GTS4 or GTS-t. Any decent person who knows what to look for will know it is a GTR but to the untrained eye I could get away with it.

The only point in badging your car any differently is to please the owner. Its just the same with tuning your car or putting a body kit on it. Not everyone is going to to think that a certain body kit looks good on your car but as long as you think it does what does it matter?
I know a guy with a 89'gt that has a 3 inch cowl hood and I think it looks horrible but he loves it so what does it matter. The only opinions that count are the ones that you let count.
with that said anyway you look at it -ignorance is bliss

I suppose this is all relative to ones definition of "fake badging". I have a V-6 mustang and I have a rear "SVT" badge and side badges that were specially made from billet aluminum. I consider my ride a "Special Vehicle" and I consider myself part of the "Special Vehicle Team" thus the rear badge. It it is not a "SVT Cobra Badge" just a plain "SVT". I have built the engine from the ground up and without the bottle it puts 325 horses to the rear wheels....with the wet system engaged I get around 425 rwhp. The suspension has also been severley modified and not even corvettes can keep up with it. Bottom line....I have much time and many mods in this stang and it deserves the "SVT" badging. As a matter of fact I'm even considering putting GTR side emblems on it. After all, I did build one as this car was built for the track.

Yeah, but the only way to tell the difference between a 99 v6 and 99 gt are the bumper cutouts and dual exhaust. Im getting dual exhaust so...you see the dilemma. Yes Gts are badged but I want to avoid confusion...
Ewww... actually your wrong. Forgot the wheels, tires, 35th anniversary gt badging, hood scoop, and the gt fog lights, v-8 rumble, gt dash, 150mph guages, and floormats.Their might be some of those options on the v-6's but not all.
by the way, if i could debadge i would, hell that way i would pull up to people and actually get them to race me. I cant get ANYBODY to race me now, and my car's not even that fast. They just see Mustang GT on the side and say no.

Fake badging is just retarded.
The worst case i ever saw was a Mustang GT with Honda badges all over it...the moron had yanked the 5.0L V8 out, and i'm sure you can imagine the rest.
He thought it would be faster. Genuinely thought it would be faster.

The only time i would condone changed badging/debadging is if you're trying to make your car a sleep
Examples:
Mustang GT w/removal of GT Badge
Prelude VTEC w/removal of VTEC badge
99-00 Civic Si w/removal of Si badge and/or replacement for EX/LX badge.
Integra GSR w/removal of VTEC badge
Senta SE-R w/removal of SE-R badge and/or replacement for SE/XE badge.
Just my opinion though...don't flame plz.

I personally like my car to have no badges...this way it makes it more enjoyable when you beat the other guy and they ask you if its gt or something like that. Then you tell them to add salt to the wound :lol2:

What do you guys think about adding badging? Like when a get a E30 325i after I turbo it I might add a T to the badging.

I hate to add to such an old thread, but I guess it's relevant, so what the hell. The addition of a T would simple be accurate. I wouldn't consider it ricey per-se, unless it's twice the size of the rest of the lettering. I know I wouldn't, but that's just me. It's certainly not as bad as adding an SiR or a GT-R badge.
