what rpms should i launch at? i was racing my friends tiburon and i took of the first time a 3000 then at 4500. i takes so long to pick up and well i was at his rear bumper the whole time. any tips? the only different was that he had a body kit...i dont know if that means anything and i had some heavy subs. i still think i had the weight advantage. kinda want a rematch before i get my carbonfiber hood.

There in lies the problem. Integra's have no torque. You were probably getting too much wheel spin launching that high too. A little wheel spin is good, in order to keep the revs up, but if you were spinning a lot, you were loosing a lot of ground.

so what do you think? maybe 2000rpms?

I don't have a GSR so I couldn't tell you exactly. I'd say, spinning the wheels for about 3 feet would be good.

try 3000 to 3500 rpms when it's dry.

take it to the dyno and figure out your highest torque when its time to race rev it a couple of times and then on the third rev take it to your peak torque and when the light turns green good luck. :biggrin2:

I don't have an integra but with any car the right launch just takes practice and finding that perfect balance between overspinning and letting your revs drop too low. A little too much spin is better than not enough. Just be quick with your double clutch to avoid not being able to hook up. Keep at it. you can take a v6 tib. Good luck!:bigthumb:

I agree with Chipras3. I launch my 92 teg (non-vtec)at around 2000rpm. I get wheelspin but at around 2500-3000rpm the tires just grab and the car accelerates. For a gsr 2000-2500rpms is a good area to start experimenting with. Also tire pressure and air temp are factors in getting good traction.

Lose the subs when racing. You should smoke a tiburon even with the subs:biggrin:

experimenting is fun, go out on late night safeway (or whatever store) runs and try different launches

Experimenting in parking lots is fun...but watch out for the parking barriors...U know those cement blocks that stop u for going into the next parking spot.

I saw a Porche get f*@ked up once...the dude launch his car right over one of them he must have never seen it...oil everywhere it was quit funny :iceslolan I felt bad though...that sh*t must have been expensive

i would say at 3000 rpms

I usually launch around 3 or so... usually a little bit under 3 but in that general ballpark... 4500 is prolly gonna be a little on the high side.

I launch my 98 GSR at 4000 rpm and get a short scratch, then, I hook up and take off.

well 2500 is working for me right now

is it better to just drop the clutch after bringing the rpms up to wutever u want, or let it out a little slower to keep the rpms up?

I'm willing to bet that letting the clutch out is probably better because it is a known fact that tegs have their power in the higher RPMs....I cant say for sure that this is better than just dumping the clutch since I dont have a Teg yet....:frown:

But by the end of the summer it will be mine ....O yes it will be mine :bigthumb:

I have found that if I let out the clutch slower, and not dropping it I get much better take offs, otherwise I usually get like a jolting motion.

96GSR,
It depends on a few things. If you can hit your "sweet spot" perfectly everytime. Then go ahead and drop it, just be ready to give it back in a little to make up for the fact that you didn't hit it as perfectly as you thought. Also if you have a high performance clutch package, it can handle more abuse. Just find your spot and get used to it. The better you get at dropping where you want, the more generous you can be with just popping your clutch at.

Alot is going to also depend on the condition and type of tire you are running. Stock GSR tires are shittay.
