Hey fellas,
me and my bud changed his sparkplugs and wires on his 96 mustang, now the car backfires, not loud but lil spattering backfires. What is wrong with it and how can we fix it? Please help, thanks!

Did you gap the plugs properly? What plugs did you use? Are all the wires hooked up to the correct cylinder, and not crossed?

All wires are good, but how do you know if you gapped plugs right?

yea dude... before you put in new plugs you have to gap them first... and also if you did are the wires to close to the headers/manifolds? they could be getting to hot

its the tool that you use to messager the space betweem the.. hell, chances are you wouldn't understand the text book answer, so here goes.. you know that littel metal rod (its bent 90*) well the space from that to the spark plug... you gotta set it right or else shit happens

, it s a feeler gauge. you also use it to do valve adjustments. It looks like a pocket knife with many blades of different thicknesses, like .025 of an inch. or sometimes its also this thing that looks like a coin next to the cash register at Auto zone, or Advance Auto, and it has numbers on it's edge.

In many cases spark plugs come pre-gapped, though checking the gap still is still a very good idea.
