torque converters

i've been doing some research on automatics lately. i've got the option to go with either a 5-speed or a slushbox. and i'm totaly considering the auto. there is a place in jersey that rebuilds complete tranny's for like over 2 thousand dollars, but i'm not sure if its worth it. i'm thinking just replacing the torque converter will take care of my query. the reason i'm thinking of an auto is because its a lot easier on around town traffic, and cruising. plus you can hold onto your girl while you drive without having to let go to shift. i think its totally worth it considering that from what i hear they have some impressive converters out there, a lot of people say that they dont rob as much power as a stock slush box. i just want to know if anyone has any feedback on my idea.

I think sticking with the automatic is a good idea, unless your going to go all race though then i would just get the torque converter and not a whole tranny rebuild. JMO makes a really good performance torque converter, and depending on what you drive they run from about 350-600 bucks. you can check them out at www.jmousa.com I hear ya though on how much easier it is to drove around town and bein able to hold your girl, i have an auto and when i get the money a torque converter from JMO is going to be my next upgrade, i believe i read on their site or in an article that it reduces HP loss by over half compared to a stock converter.

i've checked out both jmo and levelten. but levelten is probably the best bet. there is a company in jersey that does total rebuilds. levelten is probably the best though.

damn bro your the first guy ive ever heard complain about a manny tranny cuz u couldnt hold your gfs hand, that makes me believe that you either A) just started going out or B) are married

:iceslolan Straight up man, i'm with you. At first its cool to do the lovey dovy sheee.....but after awhile its nice not have to cuddle...plus like many of my friend they think all they want is a cruser but after awhile and a few up grades they begin to want the contral and involvelment that comes with a manny.....so if i were you i'd go with the manny......remember!! when the girlly gets irritating or pisses you off...your good old manny will be there for you......trust me it helps to clutch and shift like you hate the world when pissed off rather than just stomping on the gas pedal.......

yeah dude, you go ahead and stupid shift while you're pissed and ruin the syncros in your manny tranny. its not all about holding hands. thats just one thing about it that i like. other then the fact that launching with a slushbox tranny will totally help your reaction time, eliminate miss shifts, and reduce lost RPM's while shifting. personally i could go either way, but for a drag/street car i'd rather go with a slushbox. and no i didn't just start dating her, and no i'm not married. i happen to be in the Marine Corps and i dont get to see her all the time. i'm always deployed somewhere. i try to enjoy the time i have with her. i guess when you get to see someone every day or something close to it you can take it for granted, but i can't. call me crazy, but i'd rather hold her hand then shift if i'm getting better performance that way anyways.

Dude........we're all messen around in here....take it easy....im just exagerating about the shifting trust me after the hours i had to work to mod my car the last thing im gonna do is kill it.....also...if you want to go with the slushy thats fine...nobody says you can't........you just sounded a love sick teennie...so we just took the opportunity..........im not try'in to be a-hole.......so relax

sorry dude, i'm just tired of immature people being stupid. some people that have no idea of how to make a car perform. and what is best for each person. i dont mean to be uptight but i'm really stressed out. sorry
